There has been considerable discussion related to service intervals and sometimes questioning the need for service at all. Overall a very nice article onewatchnut. Very informative. Thanks for posting.  I was a bit confused by this statement from the article though. From the article wrote: A hot or cold car can kill your children and is even worse for your watches. Worse?

That reminds me of my best friend's reaction when his wedding ring was stolen out of his car at the car wash: "The wife's all PO'd about it, but I'm just glad it wasn't my class ring. The wedding ring I can replace, buy my USC ring has sentimental value." I guess it's all in what your priorities are. (He and his wife ended up divorced a few months later.) |

Just pulled this out of a 12 size Elgin Pocket watch. It's the center (2nd) wheel. A great example of what happen when you let it run dry. The yellow lines point to the wear on both sides. |

That's off my lathe bench. I use it to pick up fine particles of crud generated by turning. but you can send some along if you want. It has 1000 uses! |

Reminds me of the old joke: As the highway patrolman approached the accident site, he found that the entire side of the BMW had been ripped away, taking with it the driver's arm. The injured yuppie, a lawyer obviously in shock, kept moaning, "My car, my car," as the officer tried to comfort him.
