i am such an ass. i went to the store this morning to meet a client who was buying an omega from me, and i had been eying this very limited edition corum for a few weeks, ever since i saw it. its the grand prix edition admirals cup, limited to just 100 worldwide, so just a couple dozen in the states, so yup, home with me it went.

crazy leather strap looks and feels like canvas, orange stitching, great depth to the face. anway, here it is...

so now i have to sell my 675 or the black hull i got 2 days ago....we'll see

I'm partial to orange which makes me side with your latest between this one and the last, but prefer both pieces by Corum to B4B. I would say black hull comes in the middle of the two.

Either way, I would be happy to have such decisions to make. Wear whichever pieces you keep in good health Geoff!

I am a bit curious to find out what attracted you to Corum and why do you like them so much? If you don't mind me asking. I am not that familiar with the brand.

Thanks

a couple things, they are fairly uncommon, not a new company but been around for a couple generations, and now corum is all fammily owned again. the make some seriously high end pieces, we had one instock at provident, 465k list, just a work of art. i was wearing breitling 15 years ago before many people knew what they were, and the remind me of them.just great watches from a great company that i dont see everyday.
i love the fact this watch is one of 100 worldwide.

You may not be familiar with Corum Alex, but look into their brand defining Golden Bridge complication. It's rather "avant-garde" and IMO is their flagship model. The Admirals Cup is becoming what they are also well known for with the increase in competitive sailings popularity. They have also done some interesting artistic pieces over the years like the $20 US gold coin as a dial watch, and the more popular Bubble watches. While they have been around 60 or so years, they are not very well known. They make some great pieces regardless. I really want to say they are well known for the Admirals Cup line as it's been around for decades but it's still not IMO their defining line. The Golden Bridge is something.

Edit: Yes, the make a Tourbillion.

im glad they dont make the bubble line anymore, they stopped the low end crap when they went in a whole new direction a year or so ago.

I like the all black one, but this one is much nicer in my opinion. The orange "pops" on the dial without being overbearing. Great looking watch, congrats.

Love the orange accents on this one FEAR, and the strap looks really cool. Is this one 48mm also?

Thanks!

I did a bit of research and I really like the Corum Admiral's Cup Challenge 44 Chronograph. At least from pics online. I would be interested in trying one on. As well, I think the price is within Breitling range for the challenge 44 ss. Looks like the movement is a caliber co753 is it based on the Valjoux 7753?

That's the same one I found myself going back to. I like the black dial, it's different but not Graham different.

It's virtually identical to the chronometer grade 7753.

Would love to add that one to my Black Flag, but I ended up buying an IWC Portuguese Automatic 7 day. That's two new pieces to my collection in the past three months. If I bought one more my wife would throw me out.

I also like the black dial with all the different colors from the nautical flags. I bet it would look nice and different on brown leather croco.

There's an AD next to work that has them. I will check them out tomorrow.

Learned something new today.
