The large model Cartier Roadster comes standard on a bracelet, and includes a model-specific, leather deployant strap in the original packaging. In fact, as the admin. of this site points out in his Youtube review, the endpieces have been designed with spring tabs for easy interchangeability, no tools required. And yet, to a one (among those I have seen), every large model Roadster listed on eBay says nothing about including the extra strap in the sale. I even contacted a seller, and he confirmed his came with bracelet only. It's my belief the sellers assume buyers don't know the strap was originally included, sell the watch by itself, then sell the strap separately for extra profit.

I don't believe that it is "standard" for any model to come with more than one bracelet...there is an AD near me and they have never offered two bracelets with the watch. How are you positive that the larger versions "comes standard on a bracelet, and includes a model-specific, leather deployant strap in the original packaging."

I just don't see anything anywhere where it says the larger version comes with two straps.

And IMO, you can get plenty of Cartier's through AD's at a discount - so don't kill yourself trying to save a few dollars on eBay. If you're going to spend that kind of $$$$, spend the extra few $$$ and get the papers and box and get the guarantee and save yourself the headache.

Hmm...where have you been looking? It says so right on Cartier's website. Every version of the Roadster they show on there - including the small, large, extra large and chronograph - comes with "two interchangeable straps," except the two new S Roadster models. Also, the BSource review on Youtube makes mention of it, at about 2:35, where the reviewer says, "Cartier ships this with both this bracelet and a contoured, calfskin leather strap on a deployant." He also talks about the spring tabs on the endpieces at the 1:08 mark, which were designed to allow the owner to easily change out the bracelet and strap.

Thanks for the advice, but I was only looking at eBay listings for pictures, since Cartier's website offers few views of the watches. I only buy through ADs unless the watch is out of production and not available except in the aftermarket.

I do like the strap changing system on these. IWC uses the same system on the Aquatimer I have and it makes for strap removal very easy.

It's a great idea; I don't know why all makers don't do it. You could coordinate your watch on a given day the same way you coordinate your outfit.

FWIW, the Cartier's quick release mechanism is used on the IWC Aquatimer and it is sweet - can change form bracelt to strap at a red light. Not sure why you would need to do that - but you can!

Also the JLC MC Chrono II has a quick release mechanism that is similar.

So, with all that in mind, that's why I'm annoyed by eBay sellers who sell the watches with bracelet only, acting as though it never came with a strap. Clearly not everybody knows that it's supposed to (Mr. Martini is presumably a WIS, and he obviously didn't), and it appears as though some sellers are taking advantage of that fact. And if Martini's example is accurate, perhaps certain ADs do the same thing, which is a truly disheartening thought.
