First, I have no affiliation with this company nor any of the products presented. So, for those who do not know, Gilt.com is a website that offers various temporary deals on various fashion goods. Some brands are European, some Asian, and some US. They have sections for men, women, home and children. The deals are temporary and are first come first serve. There is limited quantities of items, and if other members (membership is free) beat you to the deal, they have a short amount of time to actually purchase the item before they lose it and it goes to the next member in line. Its a pretty neat system, and there are several other like it now. In the last probably 2 months, they have on 3 occasions presented vintage watches. The watches are curated by Ben Clymer of ******. On the first 2 occasions, it was 100% Rolex and Tudor. Dating from 1950's to 1980's - all priced approximately between $3k and $15k. Today, they have Patek, Rolex and Tudor. Examples include a "1950's Patek gold dress watch @ $9,500" as well as a "1972 Rolex red sub @ $15,000." I was curious if anyone has ever noticed these before and if anyone has ever heard of this Ben Clymer fellow? I am always shocked that within approximately 15 minutes of the deals going live, they are reserved and in members carts. Also, they always sell out, so some people out there with the means and likely the knowledge is buying these pieces. Also, as I am not familiar with the vintage pieces nor the pricing of either brand, on these 2 examples, are these decent prices. I am not going to buy, just curious.
