Hmmmmm...I gotta lean towards the Panerai. The IWC looks awesome in person with a day/date window and 12 hour chrono....and when the chrono seconds hand is running it looks like a plane's altimeter.. BUT I give the edge to the PAM because of the unique look that it has while on your wrist....it's unlike any other watch out there. I have to say tho, if you're considering a PAM, I would pay the extra and get a PAM that has a 1950's case ie, 312, 320, 359 etc. The case is much much nicer in my opinion and the sandwhich dials are spectacular...and they have a Panerai in house movement. |

I agree with Serge on this one. If you didn't want to spend the extra money fo the 1950s case, you could always opt for the 104. I know some purists love the manual wind of the base models, but I like the added date function and the fact it would be an automatic. |

I've owned them both, and I loved them. Only sold them this year, in the case of the Panerai it was to upgrade to a 312, and in the case of the IWC it was to upgrade (eventually) to an in-house model. Tough to compare them, I'm honestly not sure which one I'd choose as an everyday wearer. If I listen only to my head, it says the IWC is probably more versatile (automatic, date, more conventional design, available with a bracelet), but then I always found the 111 to be very versatile as well. Ultimately they're going to appeal to different people in different ways, but they're both great choices for an everyday wearer, so just go with whatever speaks to you the loudest (when you see them in person). |

Another vote for the Pam, though if you're choosing a base, I'd go for the iconic zero hero Pam 000. Then wait till the strap bug bites you -- you'll have so much fun buying and trying out different straps which can totally dress up (croc, hornback, python) or down (rubber, ammo) the very versatile Pam -- for much less money than buying new watches I might add... ![]() |

IWC every day of the week for me, if only because of the added practicality for the requested everyday watch. |

I love my 320, but what I like most about it is it's different and extends a collection. But as an everyday wearer, it would be a bit over the top for me. As a watch to be worn everyday (and presumably in all occasions) - no doubt for me it's the IWC. Though I could come up with some others that fit the everyday crtiteria I'd prefer over this IWC. Given the 2 choices and the criteria of "everyday" and "versatile," IWC wins by several lengths in my book. |

Let me throw in another curve... Once you're completely bored with how a base Pam looks, DLC it! It will come back looking brand new (the sandblasting prep removes most scratches), with a completely new look (dark grey/black), AND you probably will NOT take a hit on resale value either (DLCing base Pam is widely appreciated)... |

I'd take the IWC over the 111 like a shot. The base Panerai models do absolutely nothing for me. However if you had the 312 up there instead of the 111, then it'd be a totally different story and the Pilot Chrono would be history. |

IWC for me. I think it's far more versatile and a better looking watch overall. |
