Post subject: | Mont Blanc - Is this a fake? |
Hey guys long time viewer, but this is my first post. I was given a few watches from my work as "bonuses" only to find out that one of the Breitlings they gave me was a fake, now i question if the Mont Blanc one is also which i got for last year as a bonus. I have attached some pics, perhaps some of the pros could help me out. Some obvious signs to arouse suspicion - The case it less than quality made and looks fake - The second hand when stopped moves when you tilt the watch - Stainless steel band is starting to get black and brown marks on it in between the links. Im no prop but it does look a little like rust. http://img190.imageshack.us/i/dsc01254oo.jpg/ http://img708.imageshack.us/i/dsc01257l.jpg/ |

Can't really tell, but because of the simple design of the Timewalkers there are pretty accurate fakes made. Have a jeweler take the case back off and check the movement. With that subdial layout the movement will be a Chinese knockoff and not a lower grade Swiss. |

I sure as hell hope your company wouldn't give you a knockoff as a bonus, thats a gut punch. |

Here is a pic of a Timewalker Chrono fake - ![]() Also your has a solid caseback, the ones I've seen have have exhibition backs. Still not enough to conclude it is fake. |

MacApple, it came as a shock to me when i found out 1 was a fake, to find out both are is not cool at all. ![]() The jewelers don't know much around here, they cant tell me. I can post more pics if needed. I'm 97% sure it is fake however, i ripped open the box it came with last night and it was super glued together with cheap plastic and cardboard, the springs used to close the box were all rusty and damaged... ![]() |

This sucks - really sorry. Did the watch come with ID cards? Also you can get contact info from the Montblanc website and email them a pic of the watch and box for a definitive opinion. Remember it is entirely possible your employer got ripped off. The 2 watches you describe go for about $250 each on the fake market. |

I dont know what that watch is supposed to look like, but it looks like some type of fake to me. The super simple caseback with shallow engravings and etchings looks suspect. More importantly, if they gave you a fake Breitling, id be happy to wager that the Montblanc is fake as well. |

Sorry, it's a cheap fake. The gen Time Walker uses an ETA7750 movement with 3/6/9 sub-dials showing 30/12/60 whereas yours have 12/60/60. The dial should also have AUTOMATIC under MONTBLANC. The replica which Sharkman posted shows how it should look. The sunken date wheel is the give-away. |

Wow, that was pretty obvious - completely missed it. Quote: Thanks Mate, guess you cant rely on others for the real thing. Not suggesting what you should do, but here's what I would do - "Morning John. Have a minute? Hey, I have some very bad news - you were defrauded on those bonus watches. I know the company spent a lot of money on them, but it turns out they are fake. Here you are trying to take care of your top people by being generous and you get ripped off! Is there anything I can do to help you nab the supplier?" But that's just me - I like to see people squirm like a bug under a magnifying glass on a sunny day. ![]() |

Regardless, I hope you are ok. |
