Have any of you guys had any experience with Carl Bucherer watches? I've tried on the traveltec a few times and I absolutely love it. Triple timezone, all in house movement, and small production run. It's a very heavy solid watch and the case is well finished. I know they're not very popular; I've seen very very very few people ever even discussing them. I don't know why they're not a more popular brand. Any thoughts? http://www.patravi-traveltec-gmt.com/en ... utton.html http://www.patravi-traveltec-gmt.com/en ... eltec.html |

I have never heard of them, but I really like the look of it. Why are they not well known? |

A member called Acceldebt who used to post here a couple of years ago absolutely swears by the Traveltec. In fact I think he bought one and may have posted pictures on here at some point. They look superb IMO but there are no ADs near me so I've never handled one myself. It's great to see them finally use their in-house movement in the Traveltec too! They developed their own in-house movement a couple of years ago but for some reason Bucherer chose not to put it in their finest watch (IMO). Next time I'm in London I may track down an AD to see one in the flesh. |

The retail is $10,900. Yes, it's a bit expensive and there are very few local ADs, but the quality is every bit as good as the top watch companies. Fear's AD has them and I'm seriously considering foregoing the PAM 268 and getting the Traveltec first. Seeing it in the flesh blew me away last year and I've been lusting for one ever since. There is a small window on the side of the case so you can see the third timezone pusher gear operate, It's very cool. |

They've been advertising a cool movement. The rotor is integrated on the outside. It does not block the movement like every other automatic. |

Just to be clear - that is not an in house movement, the only in house Bucherer is the A1000. I like a lot of the Bucherer pieces and they are very well regarded for quality, although acceldebt did have problems with his recently. |

I'd forgotten the name of their in-house movement, so obviously they still HAVEN'T managed to put it in their best looking watch - i.e. the Traveltec. ![]() Once again we see a watch maker using purposefully misleading language when talking about their movements. Taken from their website - "The CFB 1901.1 certified chronometer movement was developed by Carl F. Bucherer himself". What it successfully manages NOT to say is that while it may have been developed by Carl F Bucherer himself, it was actually developed from an ETA 2894-2. You won't find that info on Bucherer's website. Funny that...... As I said in another thread recently, this lack of openness about what movement is actually in a watch is really becoming a source of irritation for me. (Still a great looking watch though) |

Many of his ladies models have diamonds, sapphires or other precious stones, with the most famous the one he made for the Queen of Thailand. My wife has one (resembling a lot to the Tank model of Cartier) given to her by her late grandmother when she was a teenager. |

So wait...it's actually a modified ETA movement and not an in house?? That kind of creative advertising annoys the $&[% out of me. I'm confused about what you mean by "developed from".
