So i know that there have been some folks who wondered why Breitling has not taken Invicta to court over use of a very similar trademark, but I found another lowend brand that has taken their own liberties with a similar mark.

I'd rather chew glass to wear a Invicta, Google the the reliability of Invicta ,and the complaints you will see how awful they are.

That was my first thought as well, and then I saw the S with wings which made it all the more comical

That's adding insult to injury. Reliability aside, they're butt ugly, cheap, derivative, wannabe pieces of junk. MacApple's signature says it all.

I beg to differ, gents. Invicta and Skywatch are very reputable watchmakers and make a fine timepiece. Get your head out of Breitling's lap for once, would ya?

I don't think one has to be partial to Breitlings to not like Invictas. My appreciation for Omega, Panerai, Cartier, Ulysse Nardin, etc., leads me to feel the same way. In other words, it's my status as an appreciator of fine timepieces - not as a Breitling fanboy - that leads me not to like Invictas.

I can't speak to the quality of Invictas, because I haven't ever owned one. And the reason I haven't ever owned one is because they look so blatantly derivative of any number of fine watches on the market. Only what's worse, they actually contort those styles into something altogether worse - overblown, yet unintentional, parodies of the styles they're imitating. That's my opinion based on looking at them. I suppose if I were to own one, my opinion might change, but I don't see that happening. Someone else asked in a different thread, would you marry a fat chick because she had a heart of gold? The point being, if you can't get past the fact you want to retch every time you look at her, it probably won't matter how good her personality is. That's sort of how I feel about Invictas, assuming arguendo that the guts are altogether better than their looks. If you don't agree, that's certainly your prerogative. I won't accuse you of fellating anybody for having your opinion.

The watches are what they are, there is a reason they cost what they cost and Breitlings, Omegas, Panerais, etc cost what they do. I agree that there is a certain level of imitation, but let the people who can only afford a $100.00 watch enjoy similar styling that you and I are lucky enough to enjoy.

I think at some point the line between paying homage and ripping off gets crossed.

I have no problem with people getting the best they can afford, and enjoying it. That doesn't mean, though, that I have to be any more accepting of Invictas. And I don't see why a watch brand that seeks to be affordable feels the need to rip off a well known logo like Breitling's. Seiko is just as affordable a watch, and while I'm not terribly fond of Seikos, either, I don't feel the same degree of venom for them, because they're a legitimate brand putting out a legitimate, affordable product. Invicta seems to be selling bogus style to people who can't appreciate the difference. It's kind of like a CK fragrance versus a fine Santa Maria Novella eau de cologne.
