A person from a local watch forum asked me to do a comparison between the Jaeger NSA and EWA, they sound a bit different. I was also asked to showcase the Seiko Ananta GMT Vs the Rolex Deepsea, notice the seconds hand!

I had all my watches out today to do some much needed cleaning (should have shot the video afterwards!!) and did a video SOTC as well, so I thought I would post the video here as well for your viewing:

Interesting...the NSA sounded a bit louder. That's a lot of watch for the money; I like the NS watches very much. Love the EWA on the red stitched croc...very sharp looking!!

The seconds hand on the Seiko sweeps smooth as silk...wow!!

Lost all focus when I saw that AP ROO Safari in the background.

Nice video Altair. And the collection is just about OK-ish too!

Awesome collection my friend.

Both those Jaegers sound great, and interesting to hear the slightly different pitch of the alarms.

glad im not the only one. I LOVE THAT SAFARI!

i must say i was very impressed with the second hand movement on that seiko. I knew the rolex would have an amazing second hand sweeping movement. but i did not expect anything like that from the seiko. i am almost ashamed to say this but the second hand movement on the seiko is better that what i have seen on my own breitlings (boogiebot ducks rocks being thrown at him :michaelangelo: )

The thing is though, the Seiko WILL have a smoother motion than any traditional auto, purely because of how Spring Drive works. The thing to remember is Spring Drive is not truly traditional watchmaking in terms of the escapement, so it manages to have a completely smooth motion.

There's no stupid questions on here.

No Breitlings don't work via a Spring Drive mechanism : Spring Drive is a Seiko-only affair, and is really a type of hybrid between true mechanical watches and quartz. OK, so SD doesn't actually use quartz, but it does use some circuitry and electro-magnetism. There are a few interesting articles on the net regarding how SD works - here's quite a good one -

While I absolutely admire the technical genius of SD I still can't help feel that it's not a "pure" form of the watch makers art - i.e. it still uses modern electronics to do what it does. For that reason, they're not really for me. But they are amazing pieces and very well made.

Nice Altair. As I've said before we don't always share the same taste, but that's a very nice collection.
