I've been waiting for day 1 of Baselworld in anticipation of what Rolex was going to do for the 100 year anniversary. Just came back from my Rolex AD after ordering the new Rolex Seadweller Deep Sea. The last time I was so excited about a watch was when I got my first Breitling. If you have a chance check out the Rolex site.

Just checked it out. Poses many questions. What will happen to the sea dweller? Will this be a limited run? What will it retail for? What will happen to the submariner?

Personally I like the watch, and as my collection displays, I have a penchant for black faced dive watches. I will certainly be adding this one to it.

I commented earlier on the blog, that while this is an impressive depth rating, the Bell and Ross Hydromax still takes the cake with a whopping 11,100 meters or approximately 6.8 miles!! Thats even deeper than the original Rolex Deep Sea that braved the Marianas Trench!!

Very excited to see it in person, hopefully it hits the market better than the Milgauss has.

Doc, shoot me a PM if you get a chance with what they quoted you for a price and how long it would take to get.

Here is a pic of the Deepsea (scroll rto the bottom) -

Doc - I'd be interested in the price too as I must say that even though I'm not a big Rolex fan, I am VERY impressed by the Deepsea. PM me please if you don't fancy posting the price on the open forum.

It is a very sweet looking watch... something I am definately interested in. Congrats Rolex on a nice addition.

The AD did not have a price, but he figures it will be in the 7-9 K range in Canada. The current Seadweller lists at $6420.00 CDN. He'll let me know availability and actual price after the order has been confirmed with Rolex Canada. As soon as I get the info, I'll forward it.

Thanks Doc, I know Rolex and affordable arent synonomous for most people, but that price range doesnt seem too bad to me. Especially considering the innovative design that went into creating it.

I have always like the classic Sea-dweller and the introduction of this DeepSea leaves me with mix opinions. I love the watch but would do without the ring lock system and original gas escape valve. there is enough information on the dial to summarize the manual.

Good point, it would look much cleaner without all that text. I am really digging the new Blue Lume they have applied to the indices and bezel pearl, the domed crystal, and the larger size. But you would think with all these changes Rolex would have added an AR coating to it. I guess somethings never change!!

@#$% that's a nice watch!!!! I called my AD and reserved one right away. Based on the specs and pics and my experience with Rolex this should be an amazing watch. Destined to be a favorite.

I do agree about that text. No need to state a watch's featre so boldly.

I totally agree with you Altair. Did your AD give you any idea of delivery time???

No date or even a general ballpark figure. I don't even know if a discount is possible.

I hope we are not talking about more than a month. I get week in the knees every time I think of that watch. My 6.75 might have some tough competition as my fav watch.

Actually I was not. Like the GMT Master IIc I was expecting a slight change, this is much more significant.

I heard that the Deep Sea is going to the around £4750 in UK.
Way too much IMHO.

Have to say I thought the "Orginal Gas Escape Valve" and "Ring Lock System" words were stickers on the crystal, but apparently they are engraved in the metal below the crystal. :? Hmmmm..... not convinced by that idea.
