Well...after two weeks of owning the Yacht Club i've decided that I hate it! It has a problem with trying to be sporty yet it's actually very dressy...which is very weird and hard to believe until you see it up close and personal. The face is just massive and very blingy...also hard to believe until seeing it in person. It has sat in the IWC box for two weeks and I've decided to return it to my AD who was gracious enough to allow me to return in. In its place I am going to pick up these two watches...with a few bucks out of pocket. What do you guys think about these two watches? I personally think it's an upgrade...and love them both very much. ![]() ![]() |

Neither are my cup of tea, but the JLC is much preferable to the IWC, IMO, but take my opinion as a Ling fan who can't name the model of either. |

Hi! I love the IWC Portuguese Automatic - Reference 5001 & I agree with you it's a more classic look than the Yact in the Portuguese range. However, I really do not like the JLC - I use to own a Master Date very similar in the look with the exception of the Reserve De Marche Complication - It's a nice watch but kinda plain & I eventually traded for the Breitling 50th Anniversary. As I recall the Master Date was small around 38mm. However, if you like it then go for it - it's a fine dress watch but you would have that with the IWC Portuguese Automatic! These are just my opinions & ramblings - ultimately you must decide whats best for you! Cheers, Enezdez |

BUT I really love the moon phase on the Master Calendar..and since it's 40.5 (and i have small wrists) i think I may go for both. I'm really lovin JLC right now and I only want in house movements...so I still may go for both. We'll see...tomorrow I'll probably want a Patek...who knows these days. |

Both of those are amazing dress watches, but I would think that since you are getting rid of a watch trying to be sporty/dress it might be interesting to get something more sporting. However, an JLC and an IWC out the door on the same day is tough to beat |

I'm struggling with whether or not to get the 7day and something more sporty? I think I have enough sporty watches tho with the Planet Ocean and SOHC LE on ocean racer....and the PAM is kinda sporty as well.....and I'll eventually get back into Breitlings in the future so I think I want to go the dress route for now. |

I love them both. The IWC Auto is just a great looking watch and the JLC, well I that's one of my all time favorite watches. Both will be great additions to your already outstanding collection. I hate you by the way. |

I may be a Philistine (there's one in every B owner), but the two new watches seem very similar in style to me. I'd be tempted to pick the one i like best out of those two and then go for something in a very different style as well. |

Never liked the Yacht Club, even when it first came out and people where raving about it. Seems like it has a personality disorder and a basterdization of the Portuguese line, the 5001, especially the white dial and adroise, are amazing watches. |

I wouldn't call either of them especially sporty, though. |

I would choose the Portuguese 7 days over the Yacht Club, period. never mind adding that wonderful JLC Master Control Calendar into the equation. I have to say I was a little underwhelmed by the Yacht Club when I tried it on a few weeks ago. I can fully understand other loving it. The fit and finish is of the highest order. I just thought it was very overpriced. The change in a no brainer in my opinion. Kudos to your AD for allowing you to do this. You must have a good relationship with him. |

In that case, you definitely made the right choice. ![]() |

I recently acquired the 5001-07 and love it. |
