If I had a nickle for every time I heard this....

Well I upgraded iPhones yesterday, and was looking for an atomic clock app, so I could keep an eye on the performance of my watches. I was really just looking for a clock that had a second hand, because I "assumed" AT&T was pretty spot on to the time.

I find me an app (emerald sequoia) and after downloading it, I see there is a reading that shows the +/- of the central iphone clock compared to the atomic time.

Boy was I surprised to see my brand new iPhone was running 35 sedonds fast. Seriously!?!?!? That is a freaking joke. I know us WIS are a bit anal retentive about this stuff, but 30 seconds + is damn near unacceptable for a digital/wifi/satalite equiped peice of modern equipment.

That being said I could care less how far off my phone is bc I never use it to tell the time, and the consolation prize of having this little nugget in my pocket for the next time I hear someone saythey use their phone for the time.

So what are your thoughts? I for one am pretty pleased to see my watch keeps better time than my phone

My phone is always spot on. I have an atomic clock at home and once in a while I put my phone next to it and watch the time change. Its always less than a second off.

I just ran a search for this app (yeah, as soon as you mentioned it I thought it would be nice to get it...) and apparently the company makes a few-- which one did you get?

Personally I find having to get my phone out of my bag/pocket/find wherever I left it down is much less convenient and time-consuming than just looking at my wrist. Phones aren't not nearly as handy as a watch.

35 seconds fast.....one of the many tools of the iPhone.

LOL

I have so many of my friends that ask me the same thing...."Why don't you just use your phone instead of wearing a watch?"

I use www.Time.gov to compare to my timepieces. It is accurate within 0.3 seconds.

...and I respond to those friends: Why do you wear running shoes when you go for a jog?

Answer:
Because Running shoes were designed to be run in. Phones were designed to be talked on. And watches were designed to tell the time. 8)

I didn't believe it at first, but I checked the app against Time.gov and it was spot on. What a joke right?

I just got the free one called "Time"

I really don't even have my phone with me all the time. Certainly not uncommon to leave it in the car or home on accident, but it is somewhat refreshing to go sans cell.

Agreed. To be honest, I am more interested in the email/internet capabilities of my phone than the phone part; I don't especially like being pestered with texts and phonecalls a lot of the time.

Just downloaded the app-- my phone is off by 33 seconds.
