Just wondering if anyone was giving some thought to going, or has been to previous years? I did a search on the forum, but it seems the last time anyone here went was 2008...

I've always wanted to visit Switzerland and thought this might be a nice excuse... And I could fit in some watch-obsessing while I was there! :D

Is it worth going for the full time, do you think, or would a few days suffice? Unsurprisingly, all the hotels bar the ships seem to be booked up already, and those are very expensive and worse, can only be booked for the full week, so we'd have to stay outside the city...

Any thoughts, anyone?

Wow, was it really 2008 the last time anyone here went? I thought it was more recent than that. Time sure does fly!

I'd love to go, and I've been considering it for years, but I've just never got round to it. Part of the problem is as much as I love watches (and I do.... A LOT! :) ), I'm pretty sure I could only spend 1 day in the halls, which makes it quite an expensive trip. Maybe I need to drag my girlfriend along and dovetail it in with some sort of Swiss holiday at the same time!

That was the last thread I could find!

That's what we're hoping to do, we're probably going to stay in Zurich for about a week and get the bus up... not sure if we want to go for more than one day or not, will need to do more research to see how we feel!

Wondering what the prices are like in Switzerland as opposed to the UK/Ireland-- they have to be a bit lower without EU taxes on top, right?

Will have to put myself on a shopping ban until then if we do decide to go...

Switzerland is expensive. Plus not being part of the EU, you need to pay VAT on stuff you bring back.

I'd love to go, but it's a rather expensive trip from here (Marie, if you aren't too busy getting Sharkman to Reno, and you are feeling generous.....)

anez, still considering an Aerospace or going to wait it out a while?

I may actually consider a trip to Basel in 2012, my wife and I would like to celebrate a milestone then and we have connections that live just outside Basel, so a place to stay. We'll see!

I would love to go one day but there are 2 problems with that. 1, I'm waaaayyyyy to cheap and 2 my wife would kill me in there after about 30 minutes of drooling over watches that I'd need to sell a kidney, and maybe one of hers, to afford.

I have been planning on going but will miss it this year. We have plans to start booking for 2012 near the start of the new year!

If anyone else is planning for 2012, it would be great to have a BSource gathering!

Driver8 -- oops, forgot about that. Done so little out-of-EU travel lately that it plum slipped my mind...

Kodiak -- Am still giving it some thought; we're not 100% on going yet. Will probably know by the end of the month-- have some business to tie up (if it gets tied up) before we can make a final decision.

Does this mean I'm going to be going it alone? If so, I suppose I can scope it out for 2012 and maybe return for the BS gathering. :D

Actually, I've been in 2010. And planning on going in 2011. I know it's not fair to you guys  , but it's just a 90' train ride from where I am :). Or a 20' flite with Mr. Schneider's private jet 8).

However, next time, maybe I'll arrange something with my AD, just to be able to get in the forbidden chambers of Breitling

Actually, starting on 01.01.11, our VAT takes a hike from 7.6% to 8% :x
