When manufactures have photos of their limited edition watches, I've noticed that the majority of the photos they have are watches that are numbered 00/XX (however many the watch is limited to). So lets say there are 25 limited edition watches being produced, wouldn't that technically make 26 if you include the one in the photos but the manufactures would just keep the 00 watch? Thanks! |

Correct, but the 00 is a kind of "artists proof" in the watch world and is usually retained by the company so it never comes to market - meaning that in the real world, the available pieces start from 01. |

And sometimes there are a few of these "artist proof"s (to cover various boutique events, shows and so on), and sometimes these proofs appear on the market as 00Rs, or "shadow" watches. |
