I came across a watch carrying an ETA/Soprod 9040, and was curious what Soprod was. It seems they are a company who performs some upgrade or enhancement to ETA movements and then passes them along to the watch manufacturer. Is this reasonably close? Also, is Soprod considered on par with what you would get from Breitling after they perform their changes to the ETA movement? |

They have two distinct businesses - remanufacturing ETA calibres and producing their own ETA clones. The second business now includes some modules that can fit either their clones or original ETA base calibres. Not even close to the quality of what a watch manufacturer would do, really just a middleman to assemble ebauches. |
