| Post subject: | Best value for money Diver ever? |
This is not my watch. It's a friend's. I have known about the Seiko Monster for along time but never owned one myself. Only admiring from afar. Although I did come close to pulling the trigger on a Limited Edition "Red" version once. These can regularly be found brand new for less tham $200. Can anyone think of a better value Diver's watch?

If "value" takes looks into account, id say that watch is a very bad value  The monster has a pretty strong following, but its just one of those watches ive never liked. |

i dont like the bezel on the monsters but I don't think anyone can dispute the quality and value of seiko time pieces... |

I used to own a BM and what I didn't like was the non hacking non manual winding movement. |

I had the black dial version for a while and, as falcon4311 said, the lack of hacking irritated me. It also gained like an IWC Big Pilot (or should that be, "it gained like MY IWC Big Pilot"  )! Easily 30 seconds a day, although a simple regulation would've sorted it out. I also was never a fan of either the bracelet or the rubber strap.That said, in terms of total simplicity and "toolness", it's very hard to beat for the money. |

Yes this is a bit off-topic, but just quickly, it's at approx +10 secs a day now and that's after 3 trips back to IWC.  It was up at around +25ish at one point. Not acceptable on a now £9200 watch. It seems to be fairly common with the 7 day 51111 movement from what I've heard. Their other IWC in-house movements are apparently MUCH more accurate.Anyway I don't want us to go too OT with this thread, so drop me a PM if you want to know more.

I used to have an Orange Monster (which now resides with another forum member) and it never missed a beat. Perhaps not within COSC specs, but the timekeeping was certainly acceptable. Unbelievable value for money, IMO. |

I had a monster and loved it, unfortunately I sold it to make room for a few other items in my collection. |
