Do any of you have your watches engraved? Or have thought about it or plan on doing so? I feel like this would be a good thing to do when you find that right piece that you know you will pass on for generations.

Also, does this in anyway affect the warranty of the watch? I know a lot of companies will not service a watch if it has been altered or modded. (i.e. dlc / pvd coating) I also know companies such as breitling like to refinish the watch to its original luster when being serviced . Would they ever go as far as polishing off an engraving?

A good friend had his initials engraved in the back of his Rolex GMTIIC since Rolex does that to any watch they sell to employees at Rolex ADs. When the watch was sold, it wasn't a problem having those initials buffed out and the caseback looked like new.

I think its not a bad idea if you plan to keep the watch forever. Finding a watch like that is kind of impossible for me though.

I haven't had it done, but might consider it for a special occasion. You won't have problems with Breitling and might even be able to have it done through your AD if they are also a jewellers.

My CA is engraved, for a special occasion. Never had any problem with service or warranty issues, just got it back from its 5 year work up.
