In my opinion George Daniels is the greatest living watchmaker, and yet even to WIS he is virtually unknown. His personal history is also extremely interesting, I highly recommend his autobiography if you can find it - All in Good Time, Reflections of a Watchmaker. His book on watchmaking, simply called Watchmaking is also one of the best books out there on the subject.

English watchmaking has a very rich history, I'm lucky enough to have a few English pocket watches in my collection and they are very nice pieces.

Great read. Interesting gentleman indeed. Does you own one of his wristwatches Roff?

I might look for that autobiography as well.

I wish.

I have a couple of watches with his inventions, but none of his actual pieces - very serious money.
