Hi! I was wondering whats the difference between these two watches - all I know is that the XV is 38mm while the XVI is 39mm. Also the hands on the XVI are nearly identical to the Big Pilot Watch only smaller naturally. The Price for the XV on a leather strap is $2,900.00 pre-haggle The Price for the XVI on the bracelet is $3,500.00 pre-haggle. Both Watches are pre-owned coming from an authorized dealer & both with a year warranty. Please include comments on your thoughts on the pricing. Thank You In Advance For Your Prompt Replies. Regards, Enezdez |

I like the hands and dial much better on the XV, but I would definitely want the bracelet rather than a strap. Still, a high class problem to have! |

This is info I've gleaned from various websites/AD's in my quest for a Fleiger-style watch, so please someone correct me if I'm wrong on the technical details. Both use IWC caliber 30110 which is based on ETA 2893. (21 Jewels, 42 hour reserve, 28,800 VPH). The Mark XVI is essentially a facelift of the XV. The hands, case design, and width were somewhat tweaked, but there isn't a "substantive" difference between the two. Most people feel the XV looks more classic "IWC" whereas the XVI looks more like a pure "Flieger" (the shape of the hands mostly). IMO, the XVI is a much better deal. The 5 row bracelet on these watches is amazing and well worth the premium. I've tried a few on and they are very comfortable and quite interesting to look at. I typically prefer straps, but this is one of the few bracelets I wouldn't mind having. The prices, IMO, sound fair. You might be able to score a little bit more off the XV because they are no longer being manufactured and the dealer wants to move the piece. Hope this helps! |

Hi All! I would like to thank all that responded to my inquiry both publically and privately. On the negative side I guess no Rolex for me this year. (It just wasn't realistic due to economics & I wanted a new or new/pre-owned watch before the end of the year.) Ok I went for the IWC XVI with Bracelet @ $2,800 + tax = Little under 3k And I get a one year warranty! I should have it on my wrist in time for the holidays! ![]() Best Regards, Enezdez |
