Perhaps the stupidest question ever on breitlingsource. I started all Breitling, then branched out into Zenith, Chopard, Omega, and even Rolex. After all is said and done, my favorite brand remains Breitling. There is just something about the heavy metal styling of these watches that none of the other I've tried have from top to bottom of the brand. They also seem more versatile in the bracelt to leather to rubber looks. You? |

Over the last few years, I think Omega has been my favourite. At the moment Rolex is giving it a bit of a run for its money though. |

SharK...great topic. My love for watches started with Breitlings (chrono evolution to be exact). Initially, nothing could even come close to a Breitling, but now that I have had the chance to experience other brands the gap has closed significantly. I still prefer Breitlings for their size, weight, and uniqueness, but Omega is a close close second. |

Yes - great topic. For me personally, my girlfriend at the time told me that I needed to buy a "grown up" watch when I turned 40. So....before I dropped $5k on a watch, I figured I would do some research....everyone has a Rolex, Omega's were nice, Cartier a bit too stuffy and not sporty enough, and then BAM, I saw my BlackBird and fell in love. So for the past 2 years, I have become incredibly fascinated with fine timepieces and I only have my now wife to blame for my watch fetish (she actually is cool with it). That being said, while I love my BlackBird and it's my "day to day" watch, I've been fascinated by Panerais for the last 18 months and just got my first one - a PAM 359. I absolutely marvel and stare at it - it's kind of pathetic....but now I'm hooked. There are several other models I would like and I can see this becoming a habit. Soooooooooooooo, I actually have different brands which are my "favorites" depending on what I'm doing. A Reactor or the new Breitling Superocean II for beach vacations, the BlackBird every day and when I travel on business, and Panerai for special occasions and date night with the wife. I am now in the market for a "lovely" and "traditional" timepiece for very special occasions and when I dress all schmantzy-like - Cartier is too easy - I like my watches to be different - so I'm on the hunt for a traditional European watchmaker with a rich history and very elegant, old style look about it. This is an expensive habit and one that I see evolving as my life does...... What was the question again? ![]() |

Gotta be JLC for me. They have all the bases covered style wise, quality is as good as anyone, and their innovation is tops in the world among the major players. |

I too started with Breitling. I've tried REALLY hard to like other premium watches but not many attract my wandering eye. About the only one that kind of has my interest lately is th Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow 321.12.42.50.01.001. |

Damm good question, Breitling in my heart, but for a collection I am straying ![]() But buying it is a question of building up my watch fund money. If a Longitude or a Montbrillant Datora comes along then the Pam can wait. I have an interest in 17-1800c Fusse pocket watches, especially from my local area and spend quite a bit of my watch fund on Breitling goodies. ![]() If money were no object, well then it would be a different story. For me, Breitling has long been my primary watch love. My first prestige watch was an Omega Seamaster, but shortly after that I picked up my first Breitling and never looked back. Along the way I've owned a number of watches by a number of other brands including Rolex, Omega, Tag, IWC, Sinn, Doxa, Seiko, Steinhart, etc, but through it all there's always been a constant Breitling presence in my collection. Put simply, I can't imagine not owning a Breitling...... so in that respect I think I can probably say that Breitling is my favourite brand. However, it's no secret that I'm not the biggest fan of many of Breitling's latest offerings, plus I'm moving towards in-house pieces (which currently at least Breitling are very thin on), so I was starting to genuinely think that my love-affair with Breitling may be over. But as it turns out I've grown to really like (love?) the B01 Chronomat over the last few months, and with the B01 movement now hopefully about to make the jump into other models, my interest in Breitling is being renewed...... which I am very pleased about! That said (with the exception of the B01), all the watches I have my eye on at the moment are made by different manufacturers. I seem to have favourite individual watches these days, as opposed to a single favourite brand. For example, I love the Ploprof but not a lot else from Omega at the moment (unless they bring out a 44mm in-house equiped Speedie, instead of the 3313 equiped one!) : I love the Rolex SDDS but nothing else in Rolex collection : I love the PAM 312 (oh and the 270, the 317, and the 275!) but none of their non-in-house pieces. Likewise I really like a number of pieces by JLC and Blancpain (and any number of other expensive brands - Roger Dubuis, Richard Mille, AP, A.Lange & Sohn) but I've never owned a piece by any of them so I can't really claim that any of them are my favourite brand. Difficult one! ![]() ![]() |

Panerai. ![]() ![]() Breitling started it all for me and so they will always have a place, but I am currently looking to expand my collection into a number of different, largely less mainstream, brands. I love my Romain Jerome, but that doesn't mean that the brand is my favourite, I have said recently that if I could only keep one watch it would be my Louis Moinet, but that doesn't mean that the brand as a whole is my favourite. Right now I think the most honest answer is 'I'm not sure'. |

Otto wrote: Over the last few years, I think Omega has been my favourite. At the moment Rolex is giving it a bit of a run for its money though. I put Omega a very close second. A 44MM Speedy that was otherwise identical to the 42MM model would be an easy choice for me. Frankly Rolex might top my list but most of their watches are just too small for my taste. And among those that are 40MM, they aren't different enough for me. I have the GMT Master IIc and adore it. Thought about a new sub with ceramic bezel, but it looks too similar. And I just can't see sepnding the money they want for a Daytona - 40MM chrono just doesn't do it for me. But that's just my own personal feeling. Hey they produce and presumably sell about 1,000,000 watches a year - why should they make any dramatic changes?? Zenith is great. But they are a very small producer and just don't have the variety of models availalble. Chopard.....like them but I've concluded a bit over-priced. So looking at the entire spectrum of models offered and quality, it's still Breitling for me; especially the Aeromarine range. |

I'll still put Breitling first but Rolex and Panerai are right behind there. Breitling started it for me and it's the one brand I'll always come back to. I loved my 112 but wish it would have been a 104 or a 312. I really like my Milgauss. The one problem I hae with Rolex is how common they are. I know the Milgauss isn't a hugely popular watch, but seeing everyone and their brothers wearing a sub was one reason why I went with the Milgauss. |
