So I'm finding that my SA has NO wrist time at all since I got it for Christmas last year. So I have been thinking (a lot) of having it DLC'd just because. My SA is the black-on-black with baton markers, and I think the DLC would give it a huge presence without it being too tool. I was quoted just under $1K for the treatment, including the pro 2 bracelet. My only concern is the watch still has 1.5 years of factory warranty which would probably vanish with the DLC, which seemed a great waste (though I believe the SA is simple enough for many independent watch makers to service when needed). Not too concerned about taking a hit on resale value also, because I have too few watches to consider selling anything. Yes I know that a SABS would be the more logical choice. But I can't seem to warm up to the numerals on the SABS -- it looks too cartoonish for me. Also, haven't seen a perfectly matched shade of black on those who has DLC'd a bracelet for the SABS. Am I nuts? |

You are not nuts. If a DLC SA is what you want, a DLC SA is what you should get. It sounds like youve researched the potential problems that you might encounter so that you can make an informed decision. |

Well, my opinion really doesn't matter but I think that it would be pretty cool. It would definitely be unique and you wouldn't see anybody else with the same watch. If you're not planning on selling it and you want a DLC SA with the batons then that pretty much answers your question. I think the fact that SA's are pretty common and it's not like you would be altering an LE is also a pretty good reason to make the watch how you want it, especially if you might wear it more after wards. To me it would be better to do that than leave it in a box and not wear it. |

Thx guys, I guess now begins the daunting task to convince my wife that it's perfectly acceptable to DLC a (almost) brand new 6-mo old watch! ![]() ![]() |

You could tell her that you got an amazing deal on a new watch, only $1000 for a 6 month old DLC'd SA. ![]() |

You wouldn't just be giving up on Breitling warranty - the watch could never go back to Breitling so servicing would have to be with generic parts and reuse of the single use hands - just be aware. Also DLC wears DLC so try to satisfy yourself that the bracelet treatment will last. |

Roff, always been curious about the single-use hands. Are those exclusive to Breitlings? For instance, in Panerai and Omega, patina of the hands are valuable, and owners who have their watches serviced would insist they NOT be replaced. |

Not exclusive, a lot of companies treat hands as consumables on modern watches as they are all friction fit and a reuse won't fit so tightly. |

i'm not a fan of radically modifying a watch from the original factory condition ( i see this with panerais also)...you cancel the warranty, watch can never go back to manufacturer etc but more than that i'm fickle and change my mind constantly. a few months down the road it might not look cool anymore and it might be a hard to resale. if you want to scratch that itch maybe sell ur current SA with almost 2 yr warranty left and get an older model or grey market and put the difference toward the DLC. that way you won't lose anything and essentially nuke a perfectly good breitling warranty. |
