okay, I like watches that I know can withstand most anything. What are some watches which can pretty much take anything that is thrown at it. I am figuring the avenger line, most specifically the Seawolf, would fit into this category. What are some crazy durable watches? (PICS ENCOURAGED) Edit: Also, what is the toughest thing your watch has experienced / roughest test you have given it. as well as the watch being tested. |

Yes. It's like having a head-up display, which is handy if I'm doing close-quarters stuff, where I need to have my weapon up and pointed in a particular direction for a (relatively) long period of time. It's not that big of a deal to just turn my wrist around, but if there's no reason for doing that since I can wear my watch a different way, why do it? It's easier if I'm in a prone or kneeling position and firing from a support (such as a sandbag or window sill). My watch can get in the way if I wear it the normal way. Some guys have told me it's better to wear it "commando" because the lume is less likely to be seen. I wear mine with a nylon band cover (as seen in the photo) that can cover the case of the watch if stealth is that much of a concern for some reason. Also, when removing a heavy rucksack, the strap on the left side loves to get caught on my watch if I wear it normal style. I think this is pretty specific to me and how I take my pack off.  When I'm going about my civilian life I wear it both ways. Depends what I'm doing. If I'm dressed up, I wear it the normal way. |

I'm assuming that we are talking about luxury watches and not the likes of G-Shocks here? On the Breitling side (as this is a Breitling site!), I'd say the most tank-like watch in the range is the Seawolf. After all, you can't make a make a watch water resistant to 3000m by making it lightly built! However if we're talking luxury watches in general (and not just Breitling) then there's only one possible contender to my mind - the Omega Ploprof 1200. As I'm sure you know, the design is pretty much the same as it was when it was first introduced in the '70's, and back then it was purely a professional diver's tool. It was one watch whereby function took TOTAL precidence over form, and that function was to keep the watch working at all costs in the most hostile underwater environments on Earth. The new version is simply a bigger and stronger version of the original - hence it still has the most protecting crown protector of any watch I've come across, plus the fact it's on the left hand side so as the majority of the worlds population wear watches on their left wrists, the crown is protected even further. The bezel insert is sapphire crystal so it's as scratch resistant as possible, and the whole case looks and feels like it's made from solid steel girders. Hell, even the clasp is thicker than many entire watches! IMO the Ploprof is the most manly-looking, hairy-chested, toughest luxury watch in the world. |

I can't argue with Driver8's assessment. I can't think of a watch that comes close to it. Most of the 'rugged' watches today are more form over function - look like tanks, but can't stand up to the treatment. |

Always have been curious of the CX Swiss Military 20000 Feet watch. I like big watches, but hesitant if I can pull this one off on my 6.75" wrist without looking too goofy. |

To be perfectly honest the CX Swiss Military 20000 would look goofy (to say the least) on absolutely ANYONE's wrist!  It looks like wearing a golf ball on your wrist. No doubt a great acheivement from a technical standpoint, but it's a shame it looks so stupid!

Before I traded it in recently I used to use my Omega Planet Ocean as a beater. I would be happy to do the DIY, gardening and mountain biking in it. It took a few hard knocks in that time and took some superficial but it never once complained or mis-behaved itself.  I also used to use a Breilting SteelFish in the same manner a few years back. I would be happy to wear any of the Breitling "tool" watches in this manner. I am sure they are very much up to anything I can throw at them. |

It's not all that big by modern standards, so it doesn't LOOK like a tank these days, but I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Omega Speedmaster yet. OK, its water resistance is nothing to write home about, but see NASA testing etc etc. Also in the classic category, I'd suggest the Rolex Sea Dweller. |

Hahahahahahaha. Time to make the doughnuts! That omega is a hot watch tho...I woulda bought that even if it is covered in spray paint.
