I got me an old vintage watch that I wear to work and today I was working up a sweat. I noticed on my watch that there was a little fog inside the crystal. But as I'm writting this th fog inside has subsided so its gone.About a week ago I took in my vintage watch for servicing and my watch repair guy aside doing a full service, put in new rubber gaskets on the back case. I dont know if there is a difference between a fog and moisture or if there the same, but should I be concerned about this?? My watch repair guy suggested that I change the chrono button and the crown and dont use the watch at work. What do you think?? Thanks |

It definitely has moisture in it. Replacing the caseback gasket / seal isn't going to help unless the rest of the seals are good - crystal, pushers and crown. It's only happened to me once when I forgot to take a watch off when working outside, but as a general rule of thumb assume that vintage watches have no water resistance and if you think that you are going to be working up a sweat, going through extremes in temperature, etc then wear something else. |

Well then I got to send it back to the watch guy. Out of curiosity should I send it to la swiss to get it sealed (assuming they dont do a full service)?? My watch guy is suggesting I should have the crown and pusher replaced. |

Most of their watchmakers are from countries where genuine vintage Breitlings are very rare. They are factory trained on all of the new pieces, but not the vintage pieces. They probably have some experience with generic movements, but I wouldn't use them. |

I took the watch back to my watch repair guy and after expecting the movement, he said that the fog was too thin and light that he could not see any deep moisture on or in it. In any case he put in silicon lubrication to seal up any air leaks coming from the pusher, crown and the plastic crystal on top (just in case). Since then the watch has been working fine. By the way I didn't want to say this since I don't have a good camera to take pictures of (those who have seen pics of my B4B 6.75 can tell you its crap) you'll have to take my word for this; I have a 1967 breitling RCAF watch; D.N.D S E R: IL 1514/67 stock n0 6645/21/802/1267 When I get a decent camera I'll send you guys the pics |
