i love my breitling, but at times i wish i had a cheap digital i could lug around without worrying about it. for example, when i go rock climbing, mountain biking, etc.

can anyone recommend me a rugged digital that can take a beating?

thanks!

That's truly a matter of taste and the features you want. I like the solar atomic models. I have a 5600 which is the classic looking one, and a Men in Mat Black Gulfman:

Ive got a couple of G-shocks, the DW-6900R being the one I wear most. They are tough as nails. Sometimes when I get back from the gym I take it off and throw it over to where its supposed to be if im too lazy to walk over there  Doesnt matter if it hits a wall, falls on the tile floor, whatever--ive never thought that there was even the possibility that it would hurt it.

I've got 3 G-Shocks and a Pathfinder. My favourite G-Shock is one I haven't got, the G7900.

G-Shocks are great, but I like the Pathfinder even more and I find myself wearing it in preference to the G-Shocks. I think this is the one I've got:
http://www.amazon.com/Casio-PAG80-1V-Pa ... 32&sr=1-10

It's bigger than a G-Shock and much easier to read while on the move. It's very tough, not sure if it's quite as tough as a G-Shock but it still takes a beating. Mine came with me for a 9 hour trail run on Sunday. Over 2000m of altitude gained and lost that day, and the altimeter was only 35m out at the end of the day. :D

A friend of mine wears a Sea Pathfinder every day and beat the hell out of it for years (he uses it for sailing). When just about every part of the case and strap was broken in some way, he sent it to Casio and they made it look like new (new case, buttons, strap, crystal, everything) for 70 bucks.

I don't like digital displays so got the GW2000. Best feature is the seconds hand goes backwards when doing a countdown!

G Shock,

Since you like Breitling so much, how about this analog-digital Orient? It look very much like Breitling B-1 / Aerospace watch for a fraction of the cost ($100+).

Model CVZ00001B

I would be glad to help you out here in the USA. Shoot me a PM. I would love to help a fellow BS Member.

The reason I dont have one yet is because I cant get straight in my head all the different features, models etc.

:yeahthat

I've been beating the hell out of mine for two years and the only time I had an issue was when I left it in the truck for a couple of hours while I was in the gym and it was 120 degrees out. Other from almost burning my hand off when I put it back on the display was fading in and out, got the AC going and cooled it off and it's been fine ever since.
