If I were going to spend that amount of money on a diving watch, I'd get a Maxi Marine Diver, not a Rolex.

Hi guys i have decided to buy a rolex deepsea in the near future, does anyone own one as i want to know if they are a tough watch like a breitling? i intend to wear the watch every day and wear it on holiday and giving it a tough life, will it stand upto the job like a breitling would? all my breitlings are bullet proof. Im not a rolex fan but this one looks a nice tool? |

The Rolex Subbies and Seadwellers are very tough and long-lived in general. There are stories of Subbies never having been serviced in 20 years and still running fine. Whether that is totally true is anyones guess but either way there is no doubt that they can last a very long time. |

I think that it comes down to what you prefer. The UN, or a watch like it has more 'character' - there is more going on and it's a more interesting look. The SDDS is likely a better technical watch so it comes down to what is more important to you. |

Bought a Submariner 21 years ago new at a Brussels dealer. After 5 years I wanted to bring it in for a service but I somehow never did because the thing was still so accurate. A Rolex specialist in Antwerp told me that as long as I didn't use it for diving or anything saltwater related : if it's accurate do not touch it. I have worn this watch 2 to 3 times a month for almost 21 years now and it still runs perfectely, starts immediately and keeps on ticking for days. The moment it starts to slow down or run too fast I would bring it in immediately but for now, hell just for the sport of it I want to see how many more years I can use this watch before it needs some work. |
