Hey you Panerai experts. I know very little about Panerai's and the web sites are a bit daunting to narrow down the right one. Here is the list of what I would like to have in a Panerai. Please help me out be narrowing down the model numbers of the correct one. No chrono see through caseback automatic the models with the crown clamp down polished SS no titanium (to darn light weight) additional possibles: date w/ cyclops second hand dial power reserve indicator Thanks, Scott |

I don't know if an automatic comes with a display back, but the 104 or 164 both fit your requirements. The difference in them is the 164 has numerals all around the dial. and the 104 has only 3, 6, 9, 12, and indices. They also have a date window. Hope this helps. You can visit some Panerai websites for reference, like Paneristi.com, or viapaneristi.com, bigwatchforum.com. Good luck. |

You'll soon have another great panerai reference site to use ![]() The 104 and 164 are the closest match to your criteria, except that they do NOT have see-through casebacks. None of the Automatic's with the OPIII movement in them seem to.. at least none of the standard models. The only models with exhibition backs are the Base panerais (not the logos), the Flyback models and any of the Manifattura movement models... and the special editions of course. |

As they said check out the 104, thats a sweet watch! Also the PAM 98 is close to what you seem to be looking for and is my favorite PAM by far. |

The one I tried on at the AD must have been a base model. It didnt have the date, second hand and only had 12/3/6/9 markers, the see through caseback and clamp down crown. It really looked fantastic on my wrist but I am really ignorant to the different models of Panerai. My AD said that she had several different Panerai in the back, with most preowned. She said that not many people ask for them so they didnt have them out. She said the same for the Fortis line. So anyway after I save up for a Starliner for the wife, a Panerai might be my next watch (or a 6.75 bronze dial...... it sure was purdy!) Thanks for the info. Scott |
