I guess I am not as big a snob as I thought I was (sorry Roff!)

I happened over a store over at the galleria and saw the Longines display, most where boring but two watches really stand out

The quality cant be beat for the price and the design is classic and simple, I must say I might be considering these two!

Snobbery aside for the moment.....

I don't like the diver, but the manual wind is fairly classically elegant, albeit in a much larger size than we typically see for this kind of watch.

I have no issue with buying lower end pieces (on the relative scale of things - not suggesting that it's a 'cheap' watch), but they have to stand out from the crowd, and the issue that i have with these is that they don't stand out, so for me I can think of nicer brands to wear.

But as I have said before - that is snobbery, and if you like these then go for it - it's a lot of watch for the money.

There are a few of them that have caught my eye, and I bought a Dolce Vita for my girlfriend, but haven't yet seriously considered buying one for myself. I do like the Legend Diver, and would be even more interested in it if it were just a mm or two bigger, and if the strap fit me (it's too long).

4 retrograde hands!

There was a point a few months back when I was actually imagining myself with one of those. Thats a lot of watch for the money.

I agree 100%, that watch is gorgeous. 4 retrograde functions is impressive and for $3k that is a TON of watch. I just sold a Longines Master Collection to start saving for that piece. If it only had a 4year perp calendar I would have already bought it.

altair, i think you have one of the most diverse collections and therefore tastes. some i love some i dont, so i always like reading your threads and this is no exception, i like the styling of the manual wind altho the case is a little big and i am not keen on the diver.

its great, i feel the same when i look at your non breitling collection too and i mean this in a really positive way as i think its great to have a diverse tast which i dont think i do

Alex, not offended at all. In fact I was talking to a friend a few weeks back and we where discussing our very different collections and I told him that my taste is both a curse and a blessing. I seem to like a great deal of watches and in almost all designs and can apreciate my Seiko diver and my AP Safari at the same time for what they are, it doesnt matter how affordable (cheap) or expensive they are, I seem to find favorites in all ranges, similary I like both simple dressy pieces and complicated watches all the same. The cool thing to me about that is that there is always something that excites me and a watch I can enjoy in any range, the downside it means I am in a perpetual state of anguish and temptation, not to mension an ever decreasing bank account

I am very interested in your list of watches that you like or not! That was fun for me to read and I find it interesting that your list almost splits my collection in half, that supports my claim that almost every watch lover out there will find at least one watch they love and at least one they hate in my collection

Exception might be Jay, since we have very similar tastes. But even then I am sure there is at least one watch he does not like.

For the money, yes. There are better made watches, but bang for the buck is good.

I have always liked the honeycomb dial on the Master collection. If you haven't seen it in person, you really should. I am going to have to take a look at the new retrograde....complications like that in most other watches would cost a lot more.
