My first Audimars and I can't wait! Should be here in one to two days!

Will post pics when it is in my hands.

Nice going Altair! Definitely my favourite AP by a considerable margin.

Looking forward to those pics, and it'd be really great if you could do a wrist shot, and also a comparison shot with a couple of other pieces just to get an idea of relative size. (My nearest AP AD is MILES away!)

Thank you both, so exited all I can do is read about the watch to pass the time.

I actually happened over this article

http://www.fratellowatches.com/archives ... ri-review/

Which seemed to hint that the movement was an exclusive AP calibre!!

This article also explains many aspects of the movement:

http://www.chronometrie.com/beast/offrev.htm

Also, cant find any references to it being an ETA 7750 at all.

Could it be that the AP ROO has an in house movement? or am I missing something?

i alwyas tthought it was in house. I love the asymetrical 12 subdial. I tried the Safari, ROO black dial, and Rose gold ROO (who am I kidding?) on just for kicks. Oh, sweet looking watches all. They are a great fit for small and large wrists alike.

Congratulations Altair. AP's are not my thing but I know the anticipation of a new watch. I look forward to your report and pics.

Movement is in house, just not in AP's house

They are modified JLCs - slow beat versions, not sure what other modifications are made (if any).

Roff thanks for that bit of info. Do you have a source with more information?

Every source I came across seems to suggest that the caliber is fully Ap

Well, the first link you posted says:
Quote:
AP own a 40 % share in Jaeger LeCoultre and get most of their base movements from them, so it's no surprise that the Offshore is also JLC-powered. The official calibre number is 2126/2840, the number 2126 relates to the base movement, 2840 to the chronograph movement propped on top.

Calibre 2126 (2125 when it's not in a chronograph) is basically a JLC 889/1 running at 21'600 A/h instead of 28'800. It's an automatic, 26 mm in diameter, 3.25 mm high, has 33 jewels and a power reserve of 45 hours. I don't know the origin of the chrono module but I somehow doubt that JLC makes it, Dubois-Depraz or some other specialized company would be my guess. As far as I can tell, the module is exclusively for AP, I haven't seen it in watches by any other manufacturer.

I believe that the chrono module is DD produced.

AP has a 40% share of JLC?! I'm not gonna lie, that cheapens the JLC brand a little for me. The Master Grand Réveil I've been drooling over just became slightly less interesting. I thought JLC was completely independent, like Breitling . . .

It's just corporate ownership - it doesn't mean anythin g per se - no different to our independent Breitlings having Swatch movements.
