It started with one Breitling a month ago, now it's up to 4 and an Oris. I think I need to build a 6 space box just so I have less chance to pick up more than one additional watch. Anyone else run into this problem? So many to choose from, so little money :/ Should I build the 6 space, or should I plan for the future (and mentally prepare myself) to empty the wallet a few more times and build a 10 spacer? ![]() |

Yes I can relate. I am powerless over Breitlings and my life has become unmanageable. 7 in Aeromarine, 2 in Professional, 2 in Windrider, one in Navitimer, and one in Bentley ranges. This started in December for Pete's sake. But I'm done. I swear. No, really not one more. HEY, I'm serious! |

Sheesh. I think the last one on my list is going to be a Bentley Le Mans, and then I'm calling it quits ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

As long it doesn't affect things like family/friends/food/gas then it's fine. Most of my expendable income goes into my 2 cars and my watches (and to some extent my personal photography kit). I also don't party (since i cover a lot of night clubs... i really don't have the taste to go to any for 'fun'), so thats more $$ (and its quite a lot of it) that goes into my hobbies. It's all about priorities ![]() |

Luckily, I have no bills, and my project car is just that, a project E-Type. It gets what's left of the fun money. Being in Afghanistan prevents the party money getting spent as well ![]() |

this hobby of ours is very expensive. i only have 2 watches right now bentley motors t and a corum admirals cup chrono and i cant seem to stop longing for more. most of my free time is spent sourcing or looking at a new watch. on one hand i should be happy with what i have but on the other i just cant seem to stop. so i think i have a problem ![]() |

OK, so I tried not to post to this and failed miserably..... I've said this before, but it bears saying again - apologies if this seems semi-serious on a light hearted thread, but, I'm not going to try and rationalise what I spend on watches because I don't need to. As long as my obligations come first then it's up to me and those that are important to me to determine how to maximise the value of my life. As of last month I have paid off my mortgage and now don't have a penny of debt. My wife and I have both contributed the maximum allowable by the Canadian government into retirement planning and there is a fund of emergency cash that is available in the event of unplanned expenditure. I hope to live for many more years, but if I die tomorrow the people that I leave behind will be taken care of. To me that means that any money that's left over can be used to enrich my family's life - doing things together, upgrading things in the home, and buying things for the family or individuals within it - whether that's better quality breakfast cereal or high end watches. If the watches make me happy, and there is no impact on my ability to support my obligsations then the cost isn't particularly relevant - I am not particularly interested in being the richest guy in the graveyard. |

Roff got it right. No point having money if you can't spend it... It's only money ![]() We only live once, might as well enjoy it ![]() |

i agree that its only money and you have to enjoy your life. its just funny how what starts off as a hobby (ie collecting watches) can turn into an obsession. afterall if you take the thought of "hey its just money" i guess you could also say "hey its just a watch" ![]() |

And it isn't just a watch, it's the way that a watch makes you feel. In many ways the object itself is irrelevant. |

So true, i mean its not like you own a lot of watches (and want more), spend hours on a watch forum, moderate said forum... ![]() |

Shadow87 wrote: So true, i mean its not like you own a lot of watches (and want more), spend hours on a watch forum, moderate said forum... ![]() Well for a start you have no idea how many watches I own and you certainly don't know whether I want more. And you sure as heck have no idea what else goes on in my life. I guess it's been a couple of months since someone claimed to know all about me so I must be due again ![]() |
