Post subject:  how a watch works

does anyone know of or have any good links as to how a watch works? I'm not talking about the "the weight spins round and round..." stuff. I was hoping to see disassembled diagrams or pictures with names and descriptions of the individual components. I've heard some terminology that was way over my head and it has intrigued me to learn more.

thanks

I wrote a series of articles last year (and I guess I should add some this year) that included a general overview. It's not a great picture rich example because admin was looking to use them on the front page and didn't want to run into copyright issues. If there is something specific that I didn't make clear then let me know and I'll try to expand on it.

Somebody posted a really good youtube link a while back with a video from like the 60s or 70's that explained everything REALLY well. Ill see if I can find it.

EDIT: Dont remember who originally posted it, but credit to them :cheer:

I think that might be an insult to elephants.

Brilliant onewatchnut, I've spent some time on timezone (no pun intended  :D ) but hadn't come across that particular link!

There's some other good articles in the Timezone horologium if you want to go and have a look.
