http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/ ... 10521.html The title and the link pretty much explain it. I must say I'm very disappointed in the decision. Aside from very good marketing, I don't quite see the synergy between F1 and Hublot . . . especially considering Hublot doesn't have an in-house movement. I'm not sure who I would have rather seen in Hublot's place, Breitling aside. I know Oris has been a sponsor of the Williams team for a while and have some F1 inspired pieces. Tag Heuer has an F1 line as well, but neither of the latter brands do much for me. I'm a little surprised Rolex didn't get the nod, as they've been a motorsports sponsor for many years. Thoughts? -Craig |

It is a little odd to see Hublot being the F1 sponsor. I would have imagined a brand like AP would have jumped on that as they have ties with F1 drivers and have many watches inspired by F1 racing (the new Grand Prix for example). It would have made sense for Rolex to sponsor it but they already have the Daytona Grand-Am racing series. I would guess Hublot is doing this to increase their market and make their name known to more people. |

Presumably, the title went to the highest bidder. Here's the sponsorship deals I know of Maclaren - Tag Heuer Mercedes GP - Graham Red Bull - Casio Williams - Oris Sauber - Certina Don't know if Ferrari are sponsored via the Ferrari badged Panerai watches. The following are "Ambassadors" etc for their brands Jensen Button - Jaeger Lecoutre Felipe Massa - Richard Mille Michael Schumacher - Omega Lewis Hamilton - Tag Heuer Kimi Raikkonen - Tag Heuer Two other drivers from last year, Heiki Kovalainen and Sebastien Bourdais are also Ambassadors for Tag Heuer. I'm sure the likes of Alonso, Barrichello and Vettel will have deals but I can find any details. |

Sharkmouth, I'm sure it did go to the highest bidder . . . unfortunately. By the way, nice post summarizing all the sponsorship/ambassador stuff. I didn't know about some of those. -Craig |

Rubens Barrichello had a special edition AP ROO done in his name, there actually were a couple editions of it. AP also made a special edition for Montoya. |

That's an interesting article as well. -Craig |

There are plenty of times when money isn't the deciding factor in strategic brand management decisions. The first example that springs to mind is the Tiger Woods scandal. Another is Howard Stern and Boston University. BU won't put his name on their school of communications no matter how much money he throws at them. Peace Mike |

Like I said at the "Any Hublot fans on here?" forum on Mar 15, when I first mentioned that Hublot had become the official Formula 1 time keeper, this is another proof that Mr. Biver has more than enough money to play with. Money provided by customers that are willing to pay an exaggerated price for an overpriced fancy case with an ETA movement. |

I would like to know y is there so much hate towards hublot? Besides breitling they are my top liked brand if not the first. When I call for help or info for any items they help me and are nice about it. I call breitling and I get crap. Do I hate breitling no just does not make me happy. Hublot does have in house movement called unico. As for F1 I'm happy that hublot is. And I am getting the hublot f1. Ap and rolex is nice but They are not doing much new and fresh. From what I hear most of the drivers wanted hublot not just about money. Mr. Biver is close with f1 owner Bernie ecclestone so that helps. |
