Hi,

I took my Herc back to my AD today as it was losing 10/11 seconds a day. They couldn't regulate it in the shop so it has gone back to Breitling UK for them to do it. The chap in the shop said that it could take a month, so I was maybe thinking about getting in a temporary watch until the Herc comes back.

What I'm looking for is something big and under £100. I certainly don't want some ghastly 'fashion' watch, I'd like something from a more 'proper' watch brand. If anyone knows of any brands that are cheap and good value for money, please shout :)

A quick look on ebay has turned up this Rotary Aquaspeed and this Citizen so far.

I wish you had told me a week ago as I was offreed a ColtOcean Quartz for £350 you could have bought that and sold it when yours was back and you would easily have made your money back hence the watch would have been free

At that price point, I would recommend a Citizen. I have one that I wore for a year or so and its a pretty decent watch and they have a lot of choices for models. I believe I picked up mine on eBay (new) for around $150 USD. Kinda cool technology with the solar cell dial for recharging. Thier bracelets arent too shabby either.

Sadly mine hasnt been on my wrist since the first Breitling was purchased.

Cheers guys, I'll take a closer look at Seiko or Citizen.

I know it's only temporary but the only other watch I have is this:

Seiko diver, or a Monster. No question about it IMHO!

Obviously guys were forgetting about Invicta. They will have a model no doubt to fit your desires and to be honest some of them look pretty good.

Yeah, I did forget Invicta. I thought we didn't get them here, but on double-checking via Google it seems that we do now.

Anyhow, I'm still with Altair, I'd have a Seiko diver for that money. Already got an Orange Monster. :)

Another vote for an orange monster although you won't pick one up new in the UK for £100.

You couldn't get one pretty close to 100 quid (sorry can't find the pound symbol on my keyboard) if you get it online from o/s? Haven't checked in quite a while though. I got mine BNIB in Japan a couple of years ago and it was about AUD 185.

Anyhow, just re-read the original post and remembered that it specified big. Maybe a Monster's not going to satisfy you if you're used to a Herc. :)

And just another thought to add to the mix: when you're done with it, a Monster's going to be easier to shift than most other things. I saw a black one go on WUS today in less than an hour.

I got this one as a cheap beater watch. It has a Seiko quartz movement and works just fine.
