Hi All, I have just purchased a watch winder by Time tutelary (not very expensive, around £40) but it has several options to adjust rotation direction and number of rotations. Anyway, I'm just making sure its not going to damage my Breitling in anyway as I have read a few posts on other forums saying it could put a stress on the mechanism due to the constant turning. Basically it turns left for 30 seconds every 12 minutes then right for 30 seconds every 12 minutes. I can't imagine there is a problem with it but thought I'd double check. Cheers, J |

You need to work it out, if you look on the home page and check to see what your movment is and how many turns per day it requires and note the direction required. |

The amount of turning won't have any effect on the watch since you can't overwind an automatic. However, the mainspring in the watch needs to have a sufficient period of time to relax or wind down so that it is not under constant tension. I would imagine that the winder you have, turning every 12 minutes, will not allow a proper rest period. Also as walesy said you'll need to check on the specifics of your watch as far as rotation direction and number of turns per day. TPD's can be found here: http://www.orbita.net/pages/17102B.htm |

I wouldn't use a winder with that program. No way that 12 minutes is a long enough rest period. |

some watches from the main page say NA for the winder direction. What does that mean? not available or not applicable? |

thanks for the reply all. It uses B17 movement so Both CW and CCW, and 650 per day... I can set it for 10 minutes wind and 90 minute rest if thats any better? It winds pretty slowly, about 7/8 seconds per rotation. Cheers, J |

Cheers, J Well if it is 8 seconds per wind with a 10 on / 90 off program, simple math says...... 75 rotations in a 10 minute cycle, 14 (and change) cycles per day = 1,050 rotations per day. So if you only need 650 then no problem. |
