Just sold my Navitimer, now looking for a rectangular white dial watch, auto, with moonphase. Currently looking at Longines and Oris. Has anyone seen these watches and can offer an opinion? Other suggestions appreciated.

Not square, but a friend of mine has an Oris Artelier with the moonphase and he is very pleased. A heck of a lot of watch for the money.

I Have had the Longines and the Oris, I would lean to the Oris. As stated, lots of quality watch for the money.

This might not be the price range you're looking at (judging from the mention of Longines and Oris), but I think there is a white-dial JLC Reverso with moonphase.

The J-L you mention is a dream watch! And you are right, I don't want to spend that much.

Here is a link of the rectangle Oris moonphase. I can always return it if I dont' wear it and am disappointed. Most of what I hear about it is a nice watch.

Other option is to go to a round dial and then there are many choices.

That is a good piece. On the smaller side. The Watchseller is in Tucson, AZ. I have done a few deals with David. They are excellent. Buy with confidence.

I was going to suggest the Glashutte Original Karree Moonphase, but I think that is a bit more than the Longines or Oris. I bought an Oris Moonphase as well, gave it to my father. Its a nice watch for the money... its far more affordable than even the Longines, and the moonphase movement is modified and created in-house.

However, there is one big caveat: The moonphase on the Oris can ONLY be adjusted by turning the time so you have to just keep turning it and turning it to get the the right phase of the moon. If you let the watch stop, then you have to do it again. It is quite a bit more tedious than the Valjoux incarnation of the movement that lets you do it directly. I have one of those as well and it is much simpler. I've also handled my uncles Patek Philippe moon phase and it is also much easier to deal with.

Having said that, the Oris has a beautiful Guilloche dial, with nicely finished and design casework and is excellent value for the money. I have owned Longines Master collection, but not the Moonphase version.
