I have several watches. Some of them mean more to me than others. Some of the watches I have commemorate special events or milestones in my life and others I just bought because I thought I couldn't live without them. Lately I've been thinking about liquidating my collection. I really like my watches but find that I don't have enough arms and enough time to really justify owning all of them. I guess when it comes down to it most of us only really need one watch (note the word NEED before you guys start jumping all over me. ![]() So I started thinking which ones to let go of and probably more importantly which to keep. For me it didn't really require a lot of thought in finalizing that decision. The last to go for me would be my Breitling Steelfish. I have watches that are more expensive and flashier and have more complications but it was my first nice watch and was picked out by my wife. Each time I look at it it takes me back to a special time and place in my heart and it would be the last to go. It would be my one -my keeper. If it came down to it and you had to let go of your entire collection all except for one, what would be the one watch you currently own that you would hang on to? |

Easy for me, my Panerai 233. Waited so long for it! Everytime I look down and look at it I get a big stupid grin on my mug. Plus it is the most versatile in my collection, a strap change and it goes from sporty to casual to formal. |

I could never get down to one anymore. The first b I ever knew was my dads 806 he died in 07 and left it to me I only wear it on rare occasions or at Xmas, his bday and my fighter navi was bought for me by my mum who died last year so that is never going anywhere. The other 6 I bought so could go as it were but they are all lovely and for different reasons I'd not wanna sell them for example The datora was my first and the only one my dad was alive to see me buy he was so proud the cosmo was a few months after dad died and he always wanted one and I would have bought it for him but too late the b1 is very versitioe and I guess I'd be ok letting go the e I bought for it's function and till it's superseeded it isn't leaving the sohc le was my bday pressie from myself after year after a shitty year The other 2 just aren't leaving. Sorry for the overshare |

Alex, I recommend the 233, less trouble and cheaper! Plus it is the manual wind which is more in line with Panerai history. By far my most accurate mechanical watch. |

I can't really answer this as none of my watches have any specific sentimental value attached to them. Yes I wanted my BP for a long time, but it's timekeeping is far from great these days as it's slipped dramatically from what it was like when new (oh and IWC have not been able to sort it out despite 3 trips back to them in recent months!) What I can say is that currently (and very bizarrely indeed), my Doxa SUB 600T-Graph is the one that's been getting 90% of my wrist time, so as at today, that'd be the one I'd be the least likely to sell! ![]() |

Cheers for the input Altair I think that's the conclusion I came to when I saw them side my side d8 that's a shame about the bp as I really like the look of it but if it's not reliable I'll leave it for a while till they sort it |

For me, it would be my Super Avenger. It was my first Breitling and got things going in the way of watch collecting for me. It also brings back nice memories and even though I own more expensive pieces, this one has a special meaning for me and would be the hardest to let go. |

I guess this question has come up in my mind before as well... ![]() It used to be that my Grey Hercules was the one watch I would keep if all else had to go. It is a very comfortable watch and the grey dial goes with everything. But ever since picking up a black Hercules to see which I would like better, I think the Grey would go before the black one... The B2 with UTC would be hard to let go of since it is very unique...my AS is still one of my favorites as well...and my LE Hammy rosegold is unique as well. But....ever since I got my Pam 000, I think that would end up being my one watch to stay from my collection as of now. Strap changing has become just as much of an addiction as looking for the next watch. If I ever decided to start selling any out of my current collection, I would have to start with one of the Hercs since I have two of the same watch, then I think I would reduce my collection to one watch from different brands.. So some of the Lings would go. Ok.... I'm done talking about this subject.. I'm keeping them all dammit!! ![]() |

Good post by the way! ![]() I've been sitting here pondering the question and have struggled to come up with a definate answer but here goes. IMO this is probably an easier question for me than some of you as I only have the 3 watches. My Super Avenger definently gets the most wrist time I love it. The SOHC LE has been on the wrist quite a bit lately but then again I only got it in December so that's the reason for that. I have been thinking lately that my Skyland hasn't been on much lately so I've been wearing it this week and I just love it. I always wanted to have a high end watch and always like the look of the Breitlings so after a successfull couple of years in a new business venture and my first bonus I thought what the heck and got myself the Skyland. So, summing up, if someone put a gun to my head I would keep the Skyland by a ball hair!!! ![]() Cheers |
