I had ordered a blue OR for my emergency in May, they said they would call me when it arrived. well waited and waited and no call. well this morning they called and said it was there and was available to pick up. its been 7 months and i dont want it now. what should i tell them? i dont want to ruin a relationship with them but 7 months for a strap is a bit rediculous dont you think? how do i tell them that i dont want it? not that it matters but i wont buy a watch from them anyway, now that i met george from govberg.

I would tell them just that - that 7 months is too long to wait for a strap.

If you are professional about it I don't think that you'll ruin the relationship - they have to accept that it's an inordinate wait.

I would just politely tell them you took your business elsewhere due to the wait. I don't think it would take 7 months to order a strap.

A blue OR on a Coral Emergency, you must love the Mets.

At the end of the day It's not a major loss to them I would imagine! It's around $80 rrp for the strap so its not like they are losing a fortune so I think I wouldn't worry about it!

Cheers

Wow! And I thought my dealer was bad at taking 3 weeks to get me a leather strap from BUSA (who had it in stock).

Did they give an explanation? I can see it taking a long time if BUSA had none, and it took them forever to get one from Switzerland. The AD can't control BUSA. But it does seem like an awfully long time with no callback.

Why is it that jewelers just expect us to be happy waiting?? Mine took 3 weeks to get a strap because they waited 2.5 weeks to order the @#!@$ thing. Their rationale was that "people are accustomed to waiting" for stuff like this, so they don't see the need to make themselves move any faster. For their profit margin, I expect them to be bending over backwards to sell something to me.

Only if you need the deployant as well.

they didnt give any explanation as of why it took so long, oh well i bought it and strapped it on. still havent figured out if i like it. but the OR is the most comfortable strap i have ever tried. so i will keep it on for that reason alone.

Hey Dan,
Happy New Year to you! Too bad you had to wait so long for the strap. I find that type of service just a bit too casual. Fine to be laid back in this day and age, but there is a limit. Well, we all have choices of where to purchase.
I work for a printing company, and I can only imagine if your AD was waiting for something to be printed, we would be under the gun the whole time! Funny thing, I have found over the years that the ones who are the most careless about giving good service, are the ones who expect top service themselves. Ahhh, human nature.
I see the Blacksteel still on your watch list, hope you still enjoy it just as much as when you got it.
Made my first private purchase last week, just waiting to receive the watch. An Oris, and it's a model which I have never even seen in person. Should be quite an experience to open that box. I must say the experience with the seller so far has been a good one.
Anyway, take care and enjoy the holidays.
Cheers,
Carl
