Hi Folks,

I have not exactly been singing Omega's praises lately, but I am compelled to drift from that path and give positive acknowledgement. An Omega Boutique is now opened in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, in the main lobby left of the main Georgia Street entrance, opposite the check in area.

Although it's a small shop, they have nearly everything on display that I could ever wish to see, many limited edition models, and three limited edition models from their Museum Collection.

Most notably on display was a Tourbillon numbered Limited Edition chronometer, with a sapphire crystal and a sapphire dial. Even more notable, is the fact that during the time this boutique is open, an utterly charming and beautiful Swiss young lady - who actually assembles the movement in these watches - is in attendance. The watch, of course, is absolutely gorgeous, and the fact that it takes a month to hand assemble the movement is even more impressive. There was another charming young lady from Omega, Switzerland, a young lady from the Omega Boutique in Los Angeles, and a young man from Vancouver. Each and every one of these representatives was sincerely charming, friendly, professional and really knew the products. It is a wonderful example of down-to-earth genuinely good service, and all these people are a credit to Omega, the Olympics and the countries they represent.

Also on display were three Limited Edition watches, from their Museum collection. The pictures of these watches on the Omega website, do none of these watches any justice at all. If I had 20 grand to spend on one, it would be really difficult to make a decision.

The brand new 8600 Caliber watches are also on display, which now have a day-date function instead of just the date. Both in the de Ville Hour Vision series.

Of course, the Omega accessories are all on display and on sale, including leather goods and some gorgeous jewellery. I asked if Omega made a mens ring, as I am almost as passionate about rings as I am about watches. Indeed they do!

I ended up with a beautiful stainless steel ring in combination brushed/polished, with the Omega symbol and the word "omega" engraved round the sides. A beautiful sizeable ring for a man, and it goes beautifully with my stainless steel 8500 AT with the teck-grey dial. As soon as my camera finishes recharging, I will attempt a photo of this gorgeous ring.

Also on display were many of the movements, notable the 8500, encased in plastic, so that you can see both sides of the movement. It was great to see the Omega movements finished on both sides!

The ambiance in that shop is one of friendly, good-humored professionalism, and I would recommend a visit to anyone who is in Vancouver. I'm sure I will be back many times, before they close after the Olympics.

I could go on and on and on....it was a wonderful day! Special thanks to my wonderful friend Ian Dixon, who introduced me to the boutique!

I live in Seattle, so I'm relatively close to Vancouver. I don't head up very often, but I may need to find an excuse to go after reading your post. Thanks for sharing your experience. It's unfortunate they're closing up shop after the Olympics.

Personally, if it were me, I would make the trip. The place will likely be mad during the Olympics, but probably in January after Christmas and New Years would be an excellent time.
Just the experience of meeting these wonderful Omega people alone, makes it most enjoyable. There is not a trace of arrogance, self-importance or elitist attitude. Omega must have really hand-picked the people who represent them at that shop. I am so impressed, that I will probably - at some point after the Olympics - buy a ticket to Los Angeles, and spend a few days and visit the boutique in Beverly Hills. I was very impressed with the young lady from that boutique as well.
I am actually hoping that things go so well for that boutique, that they decide to keep it open. There are, however, quite a few Omega AD's already downtown. I can think of 5 right off the top of my head, within about 5 block radius of each other.
It is obvious that Omega is doing it's best to showcase their finest to the entire world during the Olympics, and doing a damn good job of it.

I just wanted to let people know that the Omega boutique is still open. I tried on a couple versions of the Aqua Terra Chronograph.

I need to make a weekend out of some watch boutiques. We have a lot of them here and ive never really been to any.

Passed by the boutique last Saturday. I was too early to go in, as it doesn't open until after 10am. Apparently, it is going to be here until May, I believe. Odd that they would keep it open between the Olympics and the summer, and close it down just before the peak tourist season begins. We get a lot of visitors downtown in the summer, especially with all the Alaska cruises that leave the port all summer. Sometimes 3 or 4 ships a day. It brings a lot of business.
