I recently found one of my watchboxes are falling apart. Instead of just replacing it with a standard one, I thought I could be a little bit more creative. I'd like to custom make a watchbox, containing somewhere between 10-15 watches (mainly large diameters). I also want to have it made in leather - I really don't like wooden boxes. And of course, the option to choose type of leather... I have googled a lot trying to find a suitable place, but am falling short of ideas. I would very much appreciate if some of you have any good ideas where to turn. |

No idea whether she would do a watchbox, but I had a briefcase custom made earlier this year and the woman that made it does some incredible leather work. Might be worth asking whether she could do a box? www.ghilliedhuleather.co.uk, her name is Adrienne. |

Tricky one because you need someone that works in wood (base structure) and leather. I can't think of any craft that combines the two?? Maybe buying a suitable wood box and then have someone line it with custom leather might be a better option?? I'll be watching this thread with interest. |

Don't know how much your budget or your taste is but just throwing in the idea... I am aware that some of the fashion houses such as LV do accept commissions for custom items. I recall seeing one on their online website and it looked pretty nice actually... |

Thanks for the link Roff. I haven't set a definite budget, but for the right thing it might be somewhere around $1500. Of course I don't mind paying less, that would just be a bonus for the next watch fund. I don't mind paying a premium for great workmanship, but I don't want to pay a premium just to pass this through the channels of a fashion house (LV or other). Again, if that's the only way to find what I want, so be it. Hmm, it might be an idea to find a regular box where I like the interior and then ask around if it could be lined/re-lined the way I want. |

I'm also going to watch your search with interest Aleister, please keep us updated. I saw some nice wooden boxes today lined with some sort of felt ![]() aleister wrote: Hmm, it might be an idea to find a regular box where I like the interior and then ask around if it could be lined/re-lined the way I want. That sounds more feasible to me but then I'm far from an expert ![]() Good luck! |
