how exactly does the watch run off no battery?
as in how long do you have to wear the watch to "recharge it"
and how long without wearing the watch until it dies?

I think your a little confused, so here it goes.

There are basically three kinds of Breitlings (and other watches for that matter), mechanical, automatic mechanical and quartz (battery powered)

Mechanical = you have to wind this type of watch every day or two to keep it running. No battery inside

Automatic Mechanical = you have to initially wind them about 40 turns and if you wear them, the movement of your arm/wrist will keep the watch wound. When you take it off or dont wear it at all, the mainspring un-winds and eventually (in about 2 days or less) it will quit running. There is no battery inside

Quartz = battery powered. Batteries will generally last 3-5 years and you dont wind them at all.

Hope this helps explain it for you.
