My newest acquisition just arrived. :D :D :D

It's the 46.5mm silver-dial version of the Chrono Aero. I've gone against my usual preference for black dials, and my normal dislike of the 4-5 o'clock date placement. Somehow those things don't bother me in this watch.

In a poll on this forum a while ago I voted for the Defy Open over the Chrono Aero, but since then I've changed my mind about the Open. It really does remind me now of a squashed smiley-face and I can't get that out of my head.

Anyhow, I had the opportunity to pick this up for an exceptional price (I mean really exceptional) and I'm not regretting it at all.

It is big on the wrist, heavy with almost as much presence as a Super Avenger (at least in terms of size, if not shininess). I love it already :D . It's also my first watch with an in-house movement of this quality. (Incidentally, I never realised before receiving this that the El Primero doesn't hack, but I suppose that makes sense given how long it has been around.)

I'll post some better pics of it when I have a chance. In the meantime, here is a terrible Blackberry shot:

Stunning! Saving pennies for a Defy classic myself.

Thanks guys :D . Believe me, the photo comes nowhere near doing this thing justice. I was excited about getting it, but even I was dumbstruck when I opened the box and pulled the protective film off the crystal. Every detail of the finish looks and feels like quality.

More pics to come, when we get some sunshine and I'm not at work.

Congrats Otto.

I tried a Defy Extreme on again over the weekend - and really want to get one, just can't justify the price for what it is.

That Aero really looks good and I find the dial really interesting with the little bit of colour without being over the top.

Thanks Roff and tozzleozzle, I appreciate the comments. :D

There seem to be a lot of heavily discounted Extremes around at the moment - advertised at well over 50% off. I wouldn't like that much if I'd bought one a year or two ago.

Congrats Otto! Makes a change to see that over one of the Open models.

What's the finish on the bezel? Is it PVD, DLC or unknown?

I cant wate for the Jan sales, they seem to like discounting the defy range about that time :D, as you say, the extreems especially!

Unknown, I must admit. If it's a surface coating it's particularly fine, you can still see the perfectly even brush marks on the steel.

And the star logos on the bezel are polished (only the stars, not the hexagons on which they sit), so they catch the light quite nicely. :D

I know Zeniths are discounted pretty heavily. George has a Defy Classic HSM Elite right now on their website at 50% off.
