Post subject: | Date stopped working on my automatic....? |
Hey guys. I have a Hamilton Below Zero for about 6-7 months now. This past weekend, the date function stopped working - not sure where it is on the wheel either. It doesn't look like it's between two numbers - it's literally just white where the date is supposed to go. I can't change the date manually either - it just seems to be stuck. Everything else is working just fine. Any ideas? It's still under warranty, but after my last terrible experience with my AD, I'm hoping to have an idea of what's wrong with it and will most likely send it directly to Hamilton instead of going through my AD. Thank you ![]() |

99 times out of 100 this is a damaged date change mechanism - did you use the quickset between around 8pm and 3am (not sure what the times are on this movement)? |

I actually wound it up and set the time/date at around 10AM. It worked fine for a day and then "kaplooey" - the date just went "white." Again, no problem keeping time - just the date. The watch is only like 7 months old....? Grrrrrrr..... |

How can you tell if it is 10AM or PM? The only way to be sure is to wind time forward so that you know that you are outside of the risk area. |

Rick448 wrote: Roffensian wrote: How can you tell if it is 10AM or PM? ----------------------- The watch only has one crown and you can change the date either by rotating the hour hand (a lot) or by pulling it out to the second "click" and manually changing the date. I changed the date manually to the day before and then rotated the hour hand until the date changed to the current date so I knew it was reading "AM" instead of "PM." I hope to God that made sense ![]() |

I went to the Hamilton web site and found out there is a service center here just about 15 miles/22km outside of downtown - and they will service the watch no charge under Hamilton's warranty policy. Thus, I will pay the $15 to ship/insure the watch to go 15 miles and avoid my AD who definitely is no longer my "favorite" :p The folks at the service center were very sweet, polite, and helpful, so I've got my fingers crossed - again! |
