Post subject:  Breguet or Ulysse Nardin?

I know, I know, this is a BREITLING forum, but I really like the designs of Breguet and Ulysse Nardin, even if i have to pay the extra price. (I still like breitlings!) I was just wondering if anyone on this forum owns a Breguet or Ulysse Nardin because I'd like to see some pictures of them on like the wrist, or, not even on the wrist, just an actual picture because I know the ones on manufacturer's websites are usually better looking because they can adjust the lighting and everything.

Thanks!

I dont own either, but for whatever reason, Breguet is the more respected maker in my mind.

I agree with you on that. I mean, Breguet is almost 100 years older.

I would put Breguet up there with the big guys - PP, Lange & Sohne, etc. Exceptional watches, amazing movements, but serious cash.

UN is (at least recently) much less traditional and is really stretching the envelope of new technology with the work that they are doing with silicon, they are becoming one of the most innovative of the old school watchmakers and their designs are a little more contemporary across the range than Breguet.

However, if you are seriously thinking of buying one of these pieces at your age, I think that UN is the only choice of the two. Sorry if that sounds patronising, but I don't think that Breguet would look right on a young wrist.

Ya, that's not patronizing at all. For younger people like me, I'd say only sport watches would really fit me. Unless it were for a dress occasion, but even then, maybe not, plus if i wore a watch once a year, that kinda defeats the purpose... Breguet does have one nice watch that I could wear, but I forget the name. haha. I'd probably end up picking UN anyways because of the style, obviously, but also cause of the price. 5k may not seeem TOO much of a diffrence, but it is when you arent making money yet! If only i could find a way...

Breguet has the transatlantique (or something like that) that would look okay on a younger wrist (like mine). But id agree with the sentiment that UN as a whole would suit a young person better.

Yeah the Type XX or Type XXI - entry level by Breguet standards. It's a very nice watch, but I have to think that it's bought by people who want the name without spending the big cash - it's not different enough from a lot of other watches out there to spend the cash in my opinion. Step up to the Marine collection and you get something truly different, if only for the guilloche.

Ya, that's actually what I meant by the "I forget the name of that watch". http://www.breguet.com/index.php/eng/Co ... 7ST-Y2-5V8
I can't really tell if it looks good or not, actually...
It looks good, but then I have second thoghts about it

It's an incredible watch.

25 years from now you'll wonder what you were thinking today not being sure about it

However I can understand that at 14 you might not quite get it

The marine collection is super nice, but way too small imo.

Breguet every time.

And I have nothing against the Type XX either.

RJ ur right about the size of the marine's but I recently saw the chrono and the dimensions were respectable.......So much so I kept browsing the shop with the watch on for twenty mins !!! only to spend some more time with it ...lol

The transatlantique (however you spell it) does actually look really nice. But the thing is, the regular version, idk what material, but the steel? one is like 10k or something, but the rose gold, of the same model, is 10k more... Would it be worth it? Or jsut loook for another model all together? THe rose god looks loads better, but is it worth double the price???

Only you can decide that.

Gold watches can never be justified simply by gold content.
