Then DON'T! It seems that many models will be upgraded/replaced with new movements and designs in 2008, so better wait it out! That's what I am doing, can not wait to see what will be the new Seamaster GMT

Yes, but then again... The existing ETA's are well known and working as intended. The new in-house movement is new developped and from what I've heard, on this forum and other places, is that they have some problems with it. When it is finally fixed and goes out on the market, it'll take quite a while for the normal service agents to get to know it. This will lead to any service/repair having to be shipped further, to Omega themselves or a larger service agent - longer lead times, more costs. I would go the direct opposite - If you're getting an Omega in the near future, get it before they change the movement. Or, wait a year or two to get it established. Don't shop in between. |

Actually the Co Axal movement has been out for some time, they have identified the problems and the new breed Co Axial (definately in all Co Axial 2008 models) is the improved version. It really is an excellent movement, a shame that it got a bad name from the start because of some reliabality issues. Does not look like it is going to live it down soon even if they fix the problems. ETA movements are fine, but the Co Axal? now thats a thing of beauty! |

The big question is: Do You want the cheap old ETA movement in the old watch or the quite expensive new coaxial movement in the new watch. Its up to You to decide, what You really want. BG Thomas |

I enjoy the fact that my watch stands out even on the inside, if I wanted a reliable cheap movement I would go for a quartz. The Co Axial movement is smooth and precise and absolutely gorgeous! |

Omega just started phasing in the new coaxial movements in the seamasters.. now they are changing the movements in them AGAIN? geez. They are really having some issues over there.. going from a 2500 A to B and then to a C.. they are turning into movement revision central. |

I did finally get to see a brand new Hour Vision at the local AD. With the new 8500 movement. It really is an outstanding watch, but the price is $8100.00 for the stainless steel model. As outstanding as it is, I really question the value at that price. I would definitely wait about 3 years, at which time they will have completed the variations of that new movement, with the complications that they will phase in over that time. Cheers, Carl |
