Post subject:  Omega De Ville Hour Vision

Have you guys seen this one? One of Omega's completely in-house made movements, the 8500/8501. Its got Sapphire around the whole movement so you can see the sides and the front and back.. and its beautiful. The watch front is very Omega Deville looking, which is nice, but not stand-out for me, but hte movement is beautiful, as is the case... what do you think?

I like it. Particularly on the leather strap, very elegant. A good evening watch with a black suit.

They have big problems in supplying that watch. They delivered a few in summer, now they have not supplied anymore since then. It does not pose a big problem for us ADs, as the watch is very slow selling. The pricing is a little bit high. The crystal on the side does not offer much insight. For the quality of the movement I cannot really say much, but according to Omega, this new movement shall replace the old coaxial movements in all models soon. It is not supposed to be more expensive than the old movement (ETA with coaxial escapement)

Love that watch!! But the price is a bit too high so decided I would rather save my pennies for something else with an equally nice and well decorated movement (JLC Reverso Big Date!!)

I like it, but i would be buying it for the in-house movement, in which case there are better options out there.

I finally got to see one at the AD a couple of weeks ago. They had it on order since April! It is the stainless steel with black dial, and I have to say it does look amazing. However, the price is $8100.00. If I had that kind of money, I would also get it for the inhouse movement. However, I will likely wait for a couple of years, to see what else they are doing with that movement in the way of complications, including the big date. I really do like that the background on the date matches the dial. I do question however the value at 8100.00. I put of buying a new Breitling, I was going to get a Cockpit, now I am more sold on the Hour Vision, but it will be a waiting game for me now.
Cheers,
Carl

Hmm... I'd definitely be looking at other brands for that price range.

I like the idea of being able to see the movement, but it looks like something my grandfather would wear.

I'm trying to locate the DeVelle Hour Vision in Rose gold with the leather band. The obvious appeal is the in house movement (Calibre 8501) and the rarity of this piece. My understanding is that pricing is similar to the Montbrillant Olympus in Rose gold and leather. I've spoken with 7 AD's in both Canada and the USA, no one has one or even knows the availability. I'm off to the Caribbean next week and have emailed several AD's there. Hope I get lucky.

Nice watch indeed, but I agree with Flynbyu!

Had the opportunity to try one on. You're right, my grandfather would wear it.
