TOO expensive for what they are IMHO.

They've been around since 1875 and are (I believe) one of the few manufacturers still in the hands of the founding families. Every watch is handmade, and they do have some in-house movements, but a huge number of their watches (including most of the iconic Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore models) use modified non-in-house stuff. That to me is enough to question the insane prices that some of the ROO models command. For £11K - £12K, I expect in-house. They do make some interesting peices - tourbillons, perpetual calendars, etc - and also do a lot of diamond encrusted jewellery type pieces too. No doubt they are very high end, but the lack of a in-house movement in the only model I personally like (the ROO chronograph) is more than enough to make me run a mile when you see the prices.

They are often talked about in the same breath as Patek and Lang & Sohne, but I personally feel those two are streets ahead of AP.

AP make some nice watches - I'm not a fan of the RO / ROO, but the Jules Audemars and Millenary collections definitely turn my crank.

I'm with Driver8 on the cost though, significantly too expensive - the price point puts them up against brands that I just don't think they can compete with.

Some of them are JLC, amongst others.

I believe AP still own a share in JLC so they do get use some JLC movements.
