Want to see quite possibly the most insane watch ever?

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the 20,000ft by CX Swiss Military Watch. It's a conventionally made watch (i.e. not oil filled or anything) and it's water resistant to 20,000 ft which is something like 6,000m. So that's half as much again as a Rolex Deepsea. It's a technical marvel, but then again it's not overly surprising given that it's 46mm across and 28.5mm thick!!!!  Sheer and utter lunacy!

And here's a picture of the stoopid thing!

However, this video is pretty amazing. Basically they blast it with a shootgun.... and it survives! Two other diver's watches fold immediately. Not exactly sure of the use of this test in the real world, but hey it proves it's pretty tough I guess. :? And look at it this way, if you get your arm accidently shot off, at least you won't have to go forking out for a new watch!

Crazy doesn't even begin to describe it.

Are they claiming you can operate the chronograph at 20,000'?

It was built specifically to beat the record for depth, and I believe that the pushers can be operated at that depth (if anyone cares to try).

From memory it's also affordable.

There is a wrist shot of it over on the Wus dive forum. This watch was built for one thing... bragging rights.

Thx for the vid link.

I've just looked and it IS affordable - EUR 2,998 - if you want to look like you have a titanium tennis ball strapped to your wrist!

I also noticed they do a 12,000ft model, but it's a bit thin for my liking at only 23.5mm thick! And it'd more expensive at EURO 3,657. Hmmmmmmmm, I think the Rolex Deepsea does it somewhat more elegantly.

Driver8 - indeed. Still hand it Rolex even if it doesn't hold the trophy for deepest watch. Swiss Military doesn't carry the prestige that Rolex does.

like the way on the cheap watch they had to shoot it 3 times as oppose to 2 as the sapp didnt fall out until after the second shot.

pointless test, make one that can take a 7.62 armour piecing and yourr onto to something ....... imporved body armour would be what your onto not a new material for watches.

Guys, I'm new to this forum and checked out their website www.20000feet.com - they just used dynamite on this watch, a great video clip's online on their site! They're comparing the 20000 F to another watch, they don't mention the brand name but to me it looks very much like a Rolex?! Didn't fare too well I'm afraid!

This just means they can ID your body parts when they find the watch.....
