I've had my watch a few weeks now, and I love it. I wear it all the time and is getting the usuall light scuffs that are inevitable and I'm fine with that. However it does tend to get dirty rather quickly. You know that black grudge that builds up in a bracelet. We have an Ultrasonic cleaner designed for personal jewelry including watches. Has anyone used one on a Breitling before? I've used it on my Tag, fully submerged and it came out sparkling. I used it on my Seiko Monster, and it started to peel the paint off the numbers on the bezel. I'm reluctant to put my precious in there. Let me know what you guys think.

RIP MJ

When your watch is serviced they take it apart and it takes a bath, i don't see a problem with you doing the same thing a home. I wouldn't put my movement in there.

NO!!!!!

If you put your watch in an ultrasonic cleaner then you will shake the jewels out of their settings.

Not sure whether your is a 'true' ultrasonic, some of the personal ones aren't really powerful enough to really do the job, but never, ever, risk it.

If you want to clean the bracelet then take it off the watch first and only clean the case with the movement out.

Roff- Thanks for the advise. Good to know.

I knew they gave the parts an ultrasonic bath when getting serviced, but it didn't occur to me about the displacement of the jewels. I don't think mine is powerfull enough as my Tag runs fine after numerous washings, but I wouldn't risk it on my Breitling.

They're great for cleaning parts - I just bought myself a Quantrex 90, but not whole movements. In servicing the disassembled parts are cleaned and then rinsed in the ultrasonic cleaners to make sure that all of the dirt is off prior to reassembly.

Ultrasonic cleaners are great for cleaning jewelry. They remove all the accumulated body oils, dirt, etc. One will do the same thing for your bracelet after you remove it from the watch. :D

As has been previously stated, never put the watch in the ultrasonic. When the watch is disassembled for service only some parts of it are run through the ultrasonic. Certain parts of the movement are not supposed to be immersed in the solutions. Of course the dial and hands don't go in either. I've never had the ultrasonic blast friction set jewels out of the plate or bridge, although I guess it could happen if they are not set properly. They will, however, remove dial screws from the plate!
