Probably not relevant to most of you, but does anybody know a good way of sending a watch internationally from Australia without it becoming a traumatic experience? By which I mean, without using Australia Post...
Forgive me for the rant, but last week I sent my Oris off to Canada via Express Courier International, which advertised tracking and delivery within 2-4 business days. It's now 9 days later (7 business days). It hasn't arrived, and the information on the tracking website hasn't been updated since the day it was despatched. (Thanks to the buyer, Spartan, for waiting patiently.)
A few months ago I sent a watch to the Netherlands by air mail. I was told that it would take 3-10 business days and could be tracked. Turned out that it took almost a month to arrive (I had to lodge a complaint) and there was no tracking.
If I can't find a realistically-priced alternative this is likely to put me off trading any more watches in future. FedEx seem to have shut down their operations here, and some courier firms I checked with quoted unrealistic prices (i.e. well over $A200).
Any suggestions gratefully accepted.
. The tracking details suggest that it spent a fair bit of time waiting to be processed for delivery in Canada, which isn't the sort of thing I had in mind when I chose to send it by "courier".
