As much as I love and enjoy my mechanical watches they all take back seat to my one and only  digital display watch once or sometimes twice daily depending on my training schedule...

However once the exercise session is over its back to a good Ol' mechanical beauty.

Polar F11 Heart Rate Monitor

This baby keeps track of my heart rate (Average and Maximum) during exercise, duration of workout, time spent in various training zones, approx. calories burned, approx. percentage of fat calories burned, weekly training reminder, weekly training goals and accomplishment and much more. An instrumental part of my fitness regiment.

Any other Heart Rate Monitor users out there? if so what make and model?

Jerome, I've got a Polar F7 (the model below your F11, I believe). Mostly I use it to check on recovery times, i.e. how quickly my HR drops after a round or an interval. It's also pretty handy for telling me in advance if I'm coming down sick - usually if my HR is responding sluggishly or is abnormally high then I know I need to get some rest.

So what's in your daily workout, if you don't mind me asking?

Otto,

I use my Heart Rate Monitor for the same purpose along with making sure that I stay in a certain zone depending on my objective. Plus its a great way to compete with yourself. ie. making sure you burn XXXX amount of calories per week, per session etc, and excellent way to monitor your progress over time

A typical week involves being up and out to the Gym for 5:30AM for a 30-45 session in the stationary bike. Alternating between high intensity session for Cardio development to slow and easy session for fat burn and recovery sessions. These session are usually followed up with a weight training session in the later afternoon or early evening with emphasis on strength development and toning.

I too agree that your heart rate is a great indicate of your current state either it be over trained, not enough sleep/rest or lack recovery.

Yes, this is my Polar FT60. I wear it each and every time that I work out. It also records the data, and you can download it to your computer for storage. Good stuff. I try to only wear it while I work out, but that doesn't always turn out that way. :)

LOL... I'm not sure which is worse my Heart Rate Monitor referred to as "that Plastic thing" or my Yellow Dial Super Ocean referred to as a flowery colored watch.
