No doubt the bezel action on the Fifty Fathoms is outstanding. But the Breguet seemed fine to me. Maybe the subjective difference was the FFF is technically a dive watch, so I pay more attention to the bezel action which is similar to the Deep Sea. I looked again at the JLC and it just didn't do much for me. Something about the Type XXI - to me an ideal crossover sport/dress.

Their sure are a lot of nice watches out there fellas. Good thing for us they don't all look alike.

Couldn't agree more.

Some time ago I wrote a series of articles on here about how different complications work and I have been thinking about doing somethign about some of the boutique brands. There are some truly stunning pieces available - some 'just' based on generic movements, some in house, but all unique.

In terms of the XXI, I can't argue with your choice - it's a great start with Breguet (expect more), and a wonderful watch at any price point. For the money that they ask for it, it's a bargain.

May I also suggest:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=22045

It doesn't really compare with the XXI but comes in at the lower end of your budget.

Thanks Ricardo, it's an amazing watch, but my personal tastes run more mainstream. All my dress shirts are button down, all my dress/suit slacks are reverse pleats with cuffs. Pretty boring I know, but gotta go with what I am.

Fair dos Mr Sharkman.

The Graham is a polorising design.

Have you considered dress watches with complications from Glashutte Original, Girard Perregaux and Chopard. All finished to high end levels of quality and with in-house movements?

And all within your quoted budget. :D

Shark-
I just went and looked at the Type XXI flyback today and I love it!! I already had plans for my next watch, but this one is right behind it for sure. It seems like a lot of watch for the $$.

Agreed and I've had this deal pending for months that was supposed to hit 2 months ago! Not an "if." just a "when." But as soon as it does - couple more weeks perhaps????? - Type XXI on bracelet.

(of course if I just didn't just HAVE to get a P.O., and Speedy Legend, and Seawolf, and GMT Master.................it would be on my wrist)

For parenthetical reasons, I retract the foregoing whine.

So I saw the XXI on person and Holy Crap was I wrong. That thing is just beautiful. Those pics online really suck, it looked much more gray than brown to me and the strap it was on was just beautiful. The dial was incredible also, very textured and interesting looking.

I also checked out the Fifty Fathoms that you were thinking about and that still doesn't really do anything for me. Go get the damn XXI, then maybe you could sell me your new PO. You wouldn't really need it, right?

Yeah this PO is on my do not sell absent a crisis list. Put it one for first time in a week yesterday and darn thing is at +0.3 sec/day. Everything about it just speaks to me - and on this leather looking rubber strap, it's the most comfortable watch I've worn. The touches of orange are pretty cool as well.

Roman, the Type XXI really is amazing isn't it? Did you see it on the bracelet? That's the look I prefer.

I agree, my PO is also on the do not sell list. Such a solid watch that keeps great time and fits like a glove.

I tried on the PO last week as well, absolutely amazing. I loved it, but I also loved the PAM 111 also so I have no idea which one I want first. Probably the PO, it's cheaper and it's more of a sporty type of watch.

I didn't get to see the XXI on the bracelet, just the brown-ish strap, but it was amazing. I seem to like straps more than bracelets, I even took the Blackbird off of the bracelet and put it on the brown calf strap, absolutely beautiful IMHO.

The PO isn't just a "do not sell" for me, it's a "DID not sell". Over the last year or so I seem to have flipped everything that was in my collection, except the PO.

For me, there just isn't anything that does what it does, as well as it does it, for that sort of price.

Could not agree with you more Roman. This watch is absolutely stunning on a strap. There is no question that this is my next purchase.
